Uhhhhhhh... no. Just... no. If you want to go 'round the world to say that you're not trans or TS or transgender, whatever makes you feel better but really, that's just mincing words. You wanna live as a woman and physically alter your anatomy via HRT and/or surgery? Your're the 'T' in LGBT and there's no real point in trying to make yourself something 'other' just because you have issues inside yourself that sees trans as something distasteful.

Well, I don't mind using "transgender" or even "transexual" for now, while I am on the middle of my transition. After I start living full time, then I will want to be called "woman". Just that, becuase that is what I am and I don't need people to know about my past (why anyone would?). If I need to tell and specify exactly, then I will call myself a transgender woman.

Transwoman, transgender, transsexual for me.   Not BSBDS.  I can't get any self esteem out of that, but I certainly can by identifying as Trans.  The other thing sounds like I was some kind of birth defect.  Which I am not.

I don't like it personally.  For me, Transgender works for public understanding and privacy, even while stealth, transwoman works here or when I am totally in transition moments, and mtf preop transexual works medically for me.

BSBDS sounds like I want someone to tie me up or something.

I just completed my degree with honours 1st class and Kelly_Aus is most assuredly correct. The male brain fires different hemispheres compared to a female brain when put in similar conditions. Indeed, the wiring of the brain is extremely different from each gender. Keep in mind I have not stated anything about intellect, because that is not what this is about, it is rather about the structure.

In terms of the structure of transgender persons she is also correct as several peer review articles and current studies have recently been looking at this topic. In fact my professor joked that my brain fires on empathy overload and is wired more within the parameters off women. Which we all conducted during a test performed at a certain Adelaide University. He has no clue I am a non-diagnosed transgender. So it made me grin when he said it.

It's pretty obvious I'm female. But I'd never use BSBDS under any circumstances. We have enough labels, and trans, transgender or transsexual are accurate enough for me. Woman, female or even girl sound much better to me, though.

I don't really care about telling doctors that I am trans. I'm not ashamed of it, it's just part of who I am. Most of them don't even care. The only time I had an issue (or they had one with me) was when I went in to have my tonsils removed, this older nurse asked me when I had my last period. I started laughing and said "well, I'm trans so that doesn't apply to me." (I had only slept a couple of hours the night before so the sleep deprivation was making me a tad goofier than usual). She walked out of the room without saying a word and sent in a younger nurse that actually had a trans-sister. I didn't get offended about the other one walking out on me, I just wanted the friggin tonsils out.
