Scared by a picture.

So I was looking through some pictures of the neo vagina (by a well known doctor, I won't name names)  Most of them look pretty good, but there was one picture of a neo vagina that was so ugly, its brownish and it's almost as if you can see inside some of the internal organs through the vagina. I don't know , I couldn't get that picture of my head, it was really disturbing to me and I know i would be very depressed and distrubed if my result turns out to be that way.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Being totally repulsed by a picture they've seen and  having seen a picture that scare yo away from the thought of surgery?

Yes, definitely I have seen such pictures and was very upset by the sight of them, then years later I've seen a set of pictures by the same doctor that were unusually good. So my advice to all is to find a doctor who has plenty of experience. Ever hear of the three rules of real-estate, they are 1. Location 2. Location 2. Location. I think the three rules of picking a SRS surgeon should be 1.Experience 2. Experience 3. Experience. And not just for the appearance but I would have to guess that the more "Experience" the doctor has at performing this surgery the less chance you will be left with a fistula.

What are the symptoms of a vaginal fistula?
A vaginal fistula is painless. But a fistula lets urine or feces pass into your vagina. This is called incontinence, and it causes embarrassing soiling problems that you cannot control.
•   If you have a vesicovaginal fistula, you most likely have fluid leaking or flowing out of your vagina.
•   If you have a rectovaginal fistula, you most likely have foul-smelling discharge or gas coming from your vagina.
•   Your genital area may get infected or sore.

AG .... if you were looking at photo's of your "local" surgeon's work they all look so re-assuringly consistent, and yes I have seen an ugly result by him - but just the one.

He might not be as experienced as "Dr S" but 800+ surgeries sounds pretty good to me !

You're young with I guess really healthy donor tissue and rapid healing in prospect ... so don't worry, find the surgeon you believe in and put your trust in him.

IMO scariest GRS results i've seen:

Laura's 7 week discharge dr suporn pic
dr sanguan's 2004 weirdness (AL)
simon seber's throbing cock vulva (AL)
Tim Terry's melted vulva (AL))

Even the best surgeon has bad days.

Caveat Emptor.

I remember when the guy from Wisconson was viewed as superhuman, until he too, killed someone. It happens.

They all overstay their welcome too it seems. None of them retire when they should.

But, like Laura said, you do your research, and then you take your chances. It's no different than any other surgery in that respect.

Main thing is. If you are gonna do it. Do it now while you are young! You will thank yourself later.

Just wanted to add that I have also seen pics that made me churn but unfortunately in Australia we have only 2 places to go, Sydney or Melbourne and my therapist deals with the Surgeon in Melbourne so I guess I am going to have to go to him but he was the one that performed the operation that made me churn. I dont know how they can get so many bad results as if they have been doing it for years you would think they could get around any hiccups and produce a very convincing outcome.

Sure have. It makes the process of seeking out a surgeon quite daunting. But one must continue their research and find the surgeon that suits their aesthetic features. When you see a surgeons result to be so repulsive, he/she does not make the list of SRS surgeons you plan to consider. Usually these surgeons charge far less then their competition. You get what you pay for. Sometimes, surgeons are chosen on price only, and not the quality of their work. Plan to spend a little more, to get the result that suits you best.
