Heya LH,
I meant it - here's my sketch of Russell Means! Thanks for the inspiration.

Pencils and charcoal.



Contrast is stronger in real life... I blame the cell phone camera :P

I use a kneaded eraser (it rocks, almost like magic!), but I didn't actually use it that much here.
Did the outlines and finer lines with a 2H pencil, added darker shadows with 4B / 6B, and did the background with a charcoal pencil.

All the pencil lines are somewhat shiny, which is why they look so light here in the photograph... in real life there isn't such a striking difference between the charcoal / pencil. Perhaps if I used a matte fixer, it might photograph better.
