I just filed my petition today and asked the newspaper to run my public notice. :) It should run through this week and I will be able to return to the courthouse sometime in the next 2 weeks.
Here are some tips for Colorado people and people in states with strict laws on changing your name.

!. Try to submit fingerprints to the FBI as early as you can afford the fees and have your name chosen.
2. Try to submit before or after Nov.-Jan. because there are loads of federal holidays.
3. Pay extra for priority mail and pray that it doesn't snow/rain (had to resubmit because of this)
4. Use money order or credit to track if they have processed the request.
5. When you see that they have taken the payment then go to the CBI.
6. Call after 5 weeks from the delivery date to confirm with FBI that your stuff is good if you haven't gotten stuff back. (this would have helped me a lot)
7. Be patient! The longest part for me was waiting to get my # case called/processed (1hr).
