I'm getting tired of shaving. A transgender told me she waxes n her face looks super pretty n she has no dark shadows.

Stays gone for a few weeks, keep in mid that the beard isn't growing consistently - some hairs may be a bit dormant at the time of the wax and pop up not long afterwards. :/

Waxing the beard is very painful, especially if your facial hair is thick and heavy. Also, you should expect some bleeding and swelling where the hair is pulled out, won't look too pretty at first! (Don't schedule a night out on town immediately afterwards!) Those issues dissipate with time, the beard will grow a bit finer and will be easier to rip out, however the regrowth becomes more uneven (meaning untaxed hairs will start to appear almost as soon as you've had a wax) and there is an increased likelihood of ingrown hairs and follicular infections. Also you will need to let it grow out for several days before you have it waxed otherwise the wax won't be effective.

My electrologist told me that waxing will distort the pathway to the follicle and make electrolysis more difficult. Personally, I found waxing a quick and cheap interim fix - but for permanence and effectiveness electrolysis does the trick.

thanks for replying. yea im thinking of getting waxes cause I don't have thick facial hair on my face area, but its bad on my chin and neck,  but im wondering how do u get ingrown hair and follicular infections wen the hair is getting pulled out completely?

When the hair regrows (and it will, waxing is not  a permanent solution) it sometimes gets trapped under the skin, either travelling under the skin to a different exit point or growing in on itself which can lead to it becoming infected.

ik it will grow again. I just don't want to have to shave everyday. how common is the hair getting trapped under the skin? like did u have that problem a lot? and is there ways to prevent that from happening?

Not at first but they started popping up more frequently the longer I did it for - from memory I had six waxes over six months before switching to electro. As for ingrowns I think it depends on the individual, probably best to ask the person doing the waxing how to deal with them.

I never waxed, but have plucked (which achieves the same thing) and within 11 days it grows back.

OMG.  Please don't wax your face unless you check out the resulting problems first.

I'm not trying to be a downer, but after several waxings it can cause the hair root to curve under and it makes electrolysis and some laser treatments very difficult.  And with some hairs, waxing can make removal by electrolysis actually impossible without having skin damage from electrical burns that's similar to acne scaring.  This isn't a big problem for body hair, but you really want to protect your face hun.

I waxed a couple of the more private parts on my body for several years way back in the 1980's, and now I'm worried about what my electrologist will say when she starts work down there.  Because of the location of the work I'm not worried about the scaring, but the pain from hundreds of tiny burn marks is a bit scary.
