Need Advice...

Hey ladies!

I just want some words of encouragement. I'm 25 and I know in my heart that I am all-girl. I have faked it long enough. I finally decided to make an account after years of snooping around on here, so envious of all of you brave and beautiful women.

I know that this may sound silly but I just want to know that happiness and peace with your body is possible. I absolutely abhor that thing between my legs and I just want to feel normal and, well, enjoy being me.

As for advice, where do I go from here?

What sort of advise are you looking for?  Anything in particular?  I'm happy to help in whatever way I can (even though I'm not great at doing that for myself), though it's sort of hard to do that without having much to go on. 

By the way, welcome to susan's.  It's nice to see another 25 year old.

I think you should find a therapist or an informed consent clinic.  In the case of the former you will be able to talk out your feelings with someone else and reach a conlusion with the help of the therapist and for the latter they will most likely put you on a waiting list where you will have time to think about everything you need. That said, I was in your spot a few, well more than a few now, years ago when I was a teen. i was  scared that I was trans and tried to fight it despite lurking around many transgender websites back in the early and mid years of the last decade. It was only when I grew the courage to be myself did thing get better. Don't get me wrong though I still had many fears, but in the end it worked out for me, but just because I had a decent ride does not mean you will so I urge you to  consider your course of action wisely.

You will have to prove to the Doctor you know the process, meds and possible complications. If you go in and cant answer questions properly they can refuse service and it could hamper future efforts with informed consent as they can look up computerized files on you. Informed consent means you are aware of all facets of transgender HRT and the effects, complications and possible outcomes. That is why a lot of us go to Therapist's. A good Therapist can pave the way and make HRT more accessible and easier to get. Endocrinologist's look at Therapy as a pre screening tool and will be more likely to start you immediately.

This is not true at all, at least from my experiences. Despite going to therapy they still made me sign an informed consent contract. They did not really care that I self medicated before either. The contract its self basically outlines the risks involved and gives the doctor legal defense for the most part. It had nothing I needed to memorizes nor questions other than consenting to what the hormones would do to me. As for therapy, while I recommend going, I don't think it is needed for hormones. I knew I wanted hormones before I went to see a therapist, but I will admit therapy did help me. Still, I think the original poster should be able to hear all her options and she should know that a therapist will help her uncover her answers, but will not give them to her.

This is not true at all

It may very well not be in your area, but that does not make in untrue. In my state if you cannot show you understand the process, you do not get HRT. Fact! Please don't be so quick to discount others experiences as well.

I would start with a good therapist for sure. Sounds like you have a few issues to work out.

Peky, dear, may I disagree.

I know several women who are on public assistance who are very happy with their transitions. They don't necessarily pass all the time, and one of them isn't even on hormones, but they are thrilled with the opportunity to live as the woman they always knew they were.

BA, SRS, etc., is only ONE WAY to transition. There is no right way and no wrong way, and there are as many ways as there are transgender people.

My advice would be that it depends on what you want. If you can afford a therapist, they may help you. Otherwise, most of what you need to know is somewhere on these forums. Keep reading and asking.

My first step was to cobble together a cheap outfit and see what it was like to be out in the world as a woman. After that, there was no stopping me.
