It was a beautiful day today (low 70s, breezy, no clouds), so I went out to sit on the flood gate in my neighborhood in front of a 4 story house (well... 3 story with a really large attic and a small balcony) looking up toward downtown. While sitting there, I heard an older cajun (not creole, I know the difference) guy on a bike ring his bike bell and go into the house. He came back out and I waved at him (everybody is very nice in this town), and he started saying something. Because of the distance, I couldn't hear him, so I jumped off the flood gate and walked to him to see what he said.
"You live round here?"
"Yeah, I live on *street name a few blocks down*"
"You come round here often ta sit and watch da river?"
"No, this is the first time. It's beautiful outside today!"
"It sure is. I was just askin cuz ya look like a lil mermaid up dere on da water like dat"
I was really flattered and we started talking about things. Turns out he owns the house and rents the lower 2 floors as vacation condos. He went on to ask me if I was married or had children, and he politely said "You mean nobody came to scoop you up yet??" I just kinda laughed a little and said nope. Later on he said I should come around a little more often and he'd love to hang out w/ me on the 4th floor and enjoy the view.
It was very flattering. It really made my day after having an EMG done, and then my heart rate spiking to 180+ for no freaking reason. I'm so glad I finally forced myself to go out and enjoy a very, very beautiful day!!!
