I had a phone call earlier, this Sunday marks International Women's day and I've been invited to an event being organized by the charity I volunteer with, this would be a huge honour for me under normal circumstances but there is one detail that makes this invite extremely touching, the event is being held at one of the charities women only shelters.
The women living in this shelter have been victims of various kinds of abuse, they know my situation, they know that I'm having problems passing due to facial hair and an inability to use makeup but they are happy to accept me.
I've been in the shelter before but I've always been careful to simply go to the office, do my work and leave as I don't want to make any of these women uncomfortable within their safe space.

I think you should go, you have faced abuse as a woman, just a little different context. Help allay the fears of a 'man in a dress' just to hurt women in general.

I will definitely be going, several staff members are very keen for me to work within women's services, the last time I was at the shelter I popped out for a ciggie, several of the women joined me for a chat. The staff later confided that they were initialy concerned as the women could often be very "bitchy" but they accepted me without hesitation.
The staff say that due to me being so open about who and what I am that people feel instantly at ease around me, I don't see the point in not being open about myself, I came out cause I was tired of living a lie, if I'm not honest then coming out would have been a waste.

New electrolysis lady & treatment tomorrow. She sounds very experienced & glad to help me. I thought it would be hard to find a new lady however 1 phone call & everything seems set to move forward on removal of nasty hairs. Happy Girl. My previous lady had to close her office, that was sad, I'd been seeing her for a year & 1/2. I had such fun with her even with the pain. The first day we met I told her if she could ever stop all my facial hair that I would dance in the middle of her busy street wearing a pink toto. We laughed so many times about that.
mtF, mid 50's, always a girl since childhood, HRT (Spiro, E & Fin.) since 8-13. Hormone levels are t at 12 & estrogen at 186. Face lift & eye lid surgery in 2014. Abdominoplasty/tummy tuck & some facial surgery May, 2015. Life is good for me. Love long nails & handsome men! Hopeful for my GRS & a nice normal depth vagina maybe by late summer. 5' 8", 180 pounds, 14 dress size, size 9.5 shoes. I'm kind of an elegant woman & like everything pink, nice & neet. Love my nails & classic Revlon Red. Moving back to Florida, so excited but so much work moving

Ironically, I can do that too, but only by not shaving.

Hello Ladies,

I did a quick errand today during my lunch break, as I was heading out of the train a woman was rushing in with her husband. We almost bumped into each other and made a comment "Where did she come from" LOL it put a smile in my face.

I also went to the drugstore to get a bronzer and the elderly salesperson asked me "anything you need, dear?" I smiled and asked her a question.

It's been A+ for passing today :)

My best guy friend, one of two people I am out to right now (the other is my best gal friend, his partner) is really trying. Although he has slipped a couple times in person and called me "man" he hasn't called me "brother" since I told him. Just now when he texted me, instead of starting it with the b word he used "cousin". I was just freaking out a bit because I want to tell my family so badly but can't. I need to tell them in person, it is important to me to do so, but the wait, two plus weeks to go, is killing me.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Thank goodness for good friends that's all. That's what made me happy, friendship!

Lost 5 lbs since last week.  I'm doing the right things on my weight loss.

Finished a visa application (the immigration kind, not the credit kind). It weighs in at a full pound of paper. Unfortunately, it has to wait until tomorrow to send but this succeeding is a pretty critical cornerstone of my transition plan, so having it finished is a huge relief.

Good luck!

I did that years ago. Had a ton of paperwork and this was before INS (as it was called at that time) computerized all the records. So for a while they were shuffling around paperwork.

I assume this is US immigration? Feel free to message me if you need any guidance. I did mine and sponsored my dad too.

Thanks, but I'm a Canada-bound US citizen.

It's a bit ridiculous, my wife (and kids) are Canadian, so this ought to be simple. Unfortunately there's about a 3 year backlog on family sponsored permanent resident visas at present, so I'm hoping to get faster results through an express employment track.

Well good for you anyway! I'm guessing you'll get good healthcare benefits.

StrykerXIII

I went to a gay bar (for lack of a better term) downtown and did karaoke. Everyone there referred to me as female without blinking...which was nice enough, but then getting actual compliments and applause on my voice after singing Clapton was even better. Made me feel good about a part of myself I normally hate.
To strive to reach the apex of evolution is folly, for to achieve the pinnacle is to birth a god.

When the Stryker fires, all turn to dust in its wake.

This may come from left wing!

I went to a retirement seminar and found that I may be able to retire, (my super is far higher than I thought) and if it works out I could start a new career as a counselor, enjoy my photography and work on Susan's more.

Mmm no more dealing with Dept of Health politics, very tempting.

Sounds like a fantastic stress reducer if you can pull it off.
