When is it ok to start wearing *underwired* bras??

underwire is not recommend for those who just had BAS recently ... but if you are still have breasts from HRT only , then i would say yes, go for it , buy bra with padding , help your breasts in better shape

I never heard it could be harmful.  As long as you are wearing something that is comfortable and not binding it, then you shouldn't have any problems.  For the record, I recommend those who are trying to hide their development to avoid wearing these sorts of bras.  I have some, but they make things much more noticeable which may be problematic if you are still in andro mode like me.

I forget which bra site I looked at, but it claimed 80% of the bras sold are underwire.  I used to avoid them like the plague, but now that I have a wee bit in the way of  breasts (due to Androgel of all things...) there is one underwire style I really like.  So some like them, others not.  My late wife would not have any underwire bras.

I'd actually be surprised if the percentage were that low. I'm not sure where others are shopping or what size they wear, but if I want a bra without an underwire I have to put considerable effort into finding one. In fact I've never owned a bra without.

I wear an underwire bra when I want my home grown boobs to look impressive and fuller, underwires do that and center them more mid-way under each collarbone and are really supportive if the girls are beginning to go south. I have a broad male chest with boobs typically centered closer to each arm than they usually are on cis women, soft bras are more comfortable but offer less pizzaz.

Used to occasionally wear an underwire when smaller, for variety - didn't really need it. 

But now I am more concerned with protecting my ducts from any constriction, so I am soft cup all the way.  I think soft cup is healthier, and if you are not worried too much about projection, it makes a lot of sense.

Most of the time as of late I just wear a woman's cotton/spandex tank top under my T shirts, but there are days when I feel as if they are being drawn down by gravity so I put on the underwire for the rest of the day. Someone told me that if you can put a pencil under them and if the breast holds it then you're getting the sags. I don't want to have Cooper's Droopers like my old mother-in-law, having not worn a bra most of the time they went south on her, she reminds me of a school bus with it's windshield wipers running as she walks and is at the point where a bra would be useless and a belt would be more practical. I don't want that to happen to me.

I know.  I actually have one.

But I have a lot of side tissue, and my nurse-practitioner says a lot of the milk glands are actually there.  So I just choose to manage my breasts without the underwire.

generous4, since underwire bras are designed with the underwires in the position to fit a women of a given frame and breast development and there are women who are not built that way.  Therefore some like a particular style underwire bra and other say it doesn't fit them at all and hurt to wear that style.  A well fitting underwire bra offers a lot of benefits if it fit you correctly, gives a nice shape, supports you well, gives good projection, feels good all day long.  Therefore if someone would like to try underwire bras they should some time in a good bra shop and try on underwire bras until they find a style that feeling and looks good for them. When you are just developing underwire bras give your beasts more shape and projection; I wore them in high school.

No worries.  My partner's mom owns a lingerie store, so she is a bra fanatic.  She and her mom have me fitted really well, for which I am very thankful.  (More projection  is not necessary.)
