I have an appointment with a endo in charlotte on june 4th, when I made my appointment I asked if I should continue on my current self medicating regimen until then to which they couldn't really say yes or no only that if there is signs of kidney or liver damage on the tests it could set me back from treatment. I am currently taking weekly injections of progynon depot, daily low dose of androcur and low dose of dutagen/dutasteride every other day.

I don't exhibit any signs of impaired kidney or liver functioning but I do want to be at my prime when I go, I am also concerned if I continued on with my current regimen until that day couldn't it give misleading blood test levels to which it would be difficult for him to judge what dose would be proper for me to begin on an also negative residual drug interactions with the new medications?

I figured this would be the best place to get feed back on the matter, my current gut instinct is to stop even though I know it'll be rough on the feels.

It is always best to be honest with your doctor.

I have been, they know what i'm taking an how often already. It's just up to me whether or not I should stop. I have a good idea that he primarily prescribes spironolactone an oral estradiol to be taken sublingually which is drastically different from my current regimen so should I cut off what i'm taking now before being switched over to the official goods an allow my body to rid itself of the old regimen an heal or stay on it?

Assuming your prescribed regimen will be similar to what you are on now, I'd recommend staying on what you are currently.

If you have elevated liver enzymes currently, they will remain elevated at the current dosage.  Chances are your liver and kidneys aren't impaired, but if they are you want to learn what is causing this impairment.

I know from experience that alcohol stresses the liver, HRT stresses the liver, being obese stresses the liver and Lipitor stresses the liver.

In any case, liver function tests (ALT and AST) are very important to your future health and well being.

I hardly drink so i'm not concerned with that, i'm concerned with how long i've been self medicating which has been 2 years i'm also concerned that if I go in with any residual progynon depot in my system it could give him a poor idea of what to prescribe me should my estradiol levels be too high.

You will actually be creating a problem in knowing what to prescribe you. Your body has been functioning with the dosages you are doing. If you stop, now this finely tuned balance is knocked over. The endocrine system is a closed loop feedback system. If you suddenly change a variable the system will oscillate wildly until balance is restored. One of the big reasons why you don't stop cold turkey, or even start off high. Think PMS on steroids  :o

By knowing exactly what your routine is when the test is taken, sure makes it far easier to know what fine tuning is needed hormone wise. If your liver or kidney is screwed, a few weeks is not going to change that. Odds are pretty good you'll have a slew of other health issue too by now.

I can understand why they would not commit one way or the other as to stopping or continuing. If they say continue, they are in effect saying what you are doing is OK. Which technically it isn't since no exam took place. If they say stop, they know the wild hormone ride will ensue messing up any hormone test results.
