Graham Norton's commentary was very entertaining as always. But I just didn't get all those 'jokes' about China that the presenters were making; what on Earth was that all about?

I felt kinda sorry for the girls representing Russia, because their government's policies are not their fault; they're not even old enough to vote! I hope they understand that they were booed not for their performance (which was actually pretty good), but for their country's policies. But at the same time, I was especially delighted to see all the rainbow flags waving in the audience throughout Russia's performance.

Can't wait to see how the Austrians decide to entertain us next year. Well done, Conchita!

I'm probably the only person in Kansas who watches Eurovision (thank you internet!). I'm glad Conchita won, but to be honest ... I was rooting for Ukraine (though I didn't know it until toward the very end because the image of the flag on my screen wasn't clear enough for me to tell so I was referring to it as "Song number 1" for the order it was shown). I just liked the song. Sweden had a good entry as well.

Some parts of Russia did not take this very well, read this article today. Pre-warning it does contain some opinions of homophobic people.

Oh ha ha! You lucky souls on this side of the pond have never heard of Eurovison?

It was a song contest started in the days of the Cold War as a way to promote European unity and such. Over the years it's morphed into quite a display of kitch. Sorry, but it doesn't have a very good reputation even in the countries that win it... I'm rather mortified by my home country's (Poland) entry this year.

Nevertheless, once in a while something special comes along.

Great result, can imagine that Russia are a little angry ;)

Turns out that a bunch of her votes came from Russia, Armenia, and Belarus (the countries that were officially putting up the fuss about her participation), so things aren't as bad as all that:

It's almost everything I need.

well I heard about it on facebook, and it seemed bizarre from the type of music events I am used to , I am into trance and progressive music and it's usually like DJs spinning live (I do as well, loving DJing) . I was not really compelled to check it out as I was busy with other stuff.

I thought this whole thing was just so fantastic. Good on her. I like the way she sort of did the beard thing too lol, she has a sense of humor, got to love that I think:)
