There have been many times Ive been closer to that truth than I care to think about. The trick is to try and live so that you dont have too many regrets.
The laws of God, the laws of man, He may keep that will and can; Not I. Let God and man decree Laws for themselves and not for me; And if my ways are not as theirs Let them mind their own affairs. - A. E. Housman

To live in the "now" gives the most life. But we may want to do something as we live so believing in a future gives the now time a little more spice.

I'm at peace with myself and with those I love.  I'm not afraid of dying.  Needless to say I could die at this very instant, and I will be perfectly fine with it. :)

In a way I am fine with it but in a way I'm not.

For me if the afterlife is NOT what I had imagined and it was predetermined as in some religions then it would make me feel awkward but if it's everything I imagined and then some then I wouldn't mind.  I know what's on the other side is better than whats on this side at least in my opinion.

However aside from afterlife talk it is just so expensive to die.  I remember in Spongebob Mr. Krabs and Squidward were in the hospital and Mr. Krabs got the bill and freaked out.  Squidward then asked him if he was going to have a heart attack and Mr. Krabs said "not at these prices."  That's how I kind of feel.  I don't want my death to be a financial burden to my family.

But then I would be sad because if I died tomorrow none of you would ever know.  :(

I'm not ready, but it's because I worry so much about what's going to happen to my dog.  If I die, no one may know for days because I live alone and it scares me because I'm so scared my dog is going to starve before people realize something is wrong and find out I'm dead.

If she dies because I died, I don't think I'd ever be able to rest in peace.  I do believe in an afterlife and I would feel so immensely guilty if she died because I wasn't found for many days....just thinking about it right now has me on the verge of tears.

-hugs- Maybe you could plan to have someone check on you and your dog if you weren't heard from for a few days?

-hugs-  I'm trying to do that. :)  I need to contact my parents to see if they'll do that for me and give them the numbers of my friend's in the area.

This dog, at least emotionally, is my kid so I worry about her quite a bit (not obsessively or to the point of not being able to maintain a healthy lifestyle).

That's good that someone could potentially watch your dog.  I didn't mean to revive this thread to bring you on the edge of tears though.  I'm sorry. :(

Oh no, don't be sorry. :)  It's just a major fear of mine that I put aside because I don't like confronting my fears very much.  It's a very good thread and I enjoy reading stuff like this and seeing how other people's minds work.

Oh that's excellent because I was starting to feel bad.  I want to have 2 cats when I'm on my own but I worry about this too so I may tell whoever my neighboors are to check on them or I might make a little door flap for them to go out of on their own so they wouldn't be trapped inside....although I'm sure that will backfire with many other critters coming in and out. >.>

And that's why you get those door flaps that only open when there's that electronic thing on the collar. :3  Yeah, making friends with the neighbors is a good thing.  ^^ I'm trying to make friends with mine, but they're always switching out so it's hard to do.

They make electronic collars?   o.O

The flaps are electronic and there's a small remote-thing that is put on the collar the cat already has and so when the cat goes to go outside, the box unlocks the flap.
