I'm at 5'8" and I didn't really think I was that tall until I went to the L.A. women's expo last weekend. I had on 3" wedges and I was taller than a lot of women there  and that made me stick out a little bit.

Dressing outside of the "norm" will always draw unexpected attention especially for women. Guys can wear almost anything anywhere and no one will say a word, but if a woman tries the same thing heaven help her.

An example that comes to mind - one day I was in a frozen yogurt store eating my yogurt and an obviously trans women walked in. She was very noticeable because she had a wild hair do and was way overdressed with heels and jewelry. Everyone's head in the place turned and watched her get her yogurt, and after she left I heard some snickering from people. If she had toned it down some I don't think that anyone would have noticed her.

So, if you want to pass wear the same style of clothing that other women would wear on your outing. If you deviate too far from that you are going to have to deal with attention.

Best advice ever and loaded with common sense Eva Marie. One needs to always be aware of what is appropriate for time and place and learn how to dress around and downplay negative physical features like smart cis women do.

Well I guess by this threads standard I am relatively short. My license says im 5'9". So the higher end of average at least. I still wear 4-6 inch heels. I wear short but appropriate dresses for the office. I like to say my style is fancy professional. My gf just says I am super sexy all the time. So it is a bit subjective. But in any case I make sure I am dressed appropriately and professionaly at all times.

There are lot of super sexy women close to or over 6 feet tall: Elle MacPhereson, Mariel Hemingway, Terry Ferrell come to mind. As far as dressing sexy or not, though, consider the setting and occasion. It's always best to dress the way other people are dressed wherever you are going. If you dress all sexed up and everyone else is low-key you've kind of blown it (though some guys will doubtless appreciate). If you're going to a wild party, go for it, though, I suppose.

We all have to take our specific situation in to account in putting together our look, of course. Being a TG person puts a particular pressure on us and few of us wish to call undue attention to ourselves. However, I think it's generally better to dress for your frame than your height. There are lots of dressing tricks than can emphasize or de-emphasize certain features.

I use celebs and other fashion figures as dressing role models to piggyback on their style. You just have to pick one with a frame somewhat similar to your own. For instance, TV hose Kelly Ripa is almost identical to me in frame, though on a much smaller scale. I can still look good in anything she wears. One fashion type I like is Sarah Rutson, who is tall, somewhat manish-featured woman and dresses amazingly. She makes great use of accessories like necklaces and bracelets. She often wears skinny jeans, but also looks great in floor-length skirts. This look is great for long waisted people like me because you can raise the waistline a bit.
