I had my "reveal" yesterday. The Dr dressed my nipples, and because I'm still pretty swollen, I have to wear an ace for another week. I took the ace off to put on some new dressings, and the dressing she put on yesterday is stuck on top of my nipple. It is crusted on with what I'm assuming is dried up blood. Any ideas how to soften this up so I can put a new one on?

Thanks

4X4 gauze soaked in warm water will often do the trick. Lay it over the nipple and just let it sit for like 10 minutes, then try gently pulling at the bandage. Repeat until it comes off.

LordKAT's suggestion is a really good one.

I would also just add that you can try pouring some saline solution around the edges of it to soak it off.

Managed to get it off with dabbing a rag in it, whew! Thanks for the responses. Anyone use ice packs for swelling at all? I'm swollen like crazy under my left pit from being bound so tight.

I would not use ice without a doctor's permission. Ice reduces blood flow so that, if you have grafts they may get cut off on the blood supply. It is not uncommon to swell under the arms.

Garramone specifically told me not to use ice packs.
