I've seen a couple things floating around this week in the media. Laverne Cox, the famous transgender person that stars in the hit series Orange Is The New Black, made the cover of Time Magazine. A big first for the transgender community. Also, you may have seen The Whittington Family: Ryland's Story, a 7 minute YouTube video about a little girl named Ryland who, with the support of her parents, is living her life as a boy.

While I do understand feeling "different" than most people in the sphere of sexuality, I don't understand what people with gender identity issues experience. I've never wanted to be a girl. So I'm not going to be all like "I know what they're going through"-because I don't.

To suffer that sort of inward conflict has to be a level of misery off the charts. To feel a pull toward a completely different identity than the physical make up you exist in has to throw people into extreme levels of confusion and depression, especially if the only person that knows about the inward battle is themselves.

Wow. What a warped view. He goes from "we should at least try to sympathize since we all deal with confusing and unchosen feelings/issues to some degree" to calling us demonic elements of Satan in one short paragraph.

Sort of like the person who says, "I don't meant to offend you," right before they launch into something blatantly offensive". Or someone who says, "I don't mean to intrude, but..." before they ask you a question that is embarrassingly personal.

What gets to me is that there is an assumption that living as our true gender somehow denies God. It's so frustrating to hear this, because I just want to shout, "ISN'T IT POSSIBLE THAT GOD MADE US THIS WAY BECAUSE HE WANTS US TO TRANSITION?"

I can yell all I want, but I have no idea how to get people like this to listen.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Flipping moron, thinks that saran, is the cause and that they are too. well did he ever think that satans roll in it, if it s so and (he seems to think so) might be by acting threw they "they" that are, and not are too. no because hes so full of his this is what god wants for us mentality that he doesn't think for a moment, the he might be suffering from misguided ideas as to what god wants.

I DID NO TURN AWAY FRM RELIGION, it was god that holds my hand.

Just like how, their making mistakes mistakes its satan, well wear making mistakes to but its not satan we believe in god o.O
A clear example of blind faith, points out that he cant claim to understand us, then goes on to judge, moron. But he does have a tiny little shed of humanity left, yes you and others like you ARE mistaken, and are the larger if not all of the cause of the depression along with what we suffer.

The truth of it, when I die should I reach heaven my body will be female, or ells heaven become a hell for me. And you no claim or right to anything in heaven that you do not work towards in life.

Its possible alright, want to make them listen, ask them if its true that god want us to be happy?
Then tell them that transition is the only way that can happen.

The more I come across the intensely religious mind, the more I get convinced that it should be considered a mental illness requiring treatment. Maybe they could squeeze it in to the next version of the DSM?

Sit up high, out of sight and shout down at them through a loudspeaker. It seems to be the only demonstrably workable technique based on historical precedent.

There are people I can never reach, but that doesn't absolve me from trying.  A problem people who literally interpret their holy books, whatever they may be, is that they miss the good news for the gospel.  I do not believe that Jesus would condemn or try to fix me. Rather I think the carpenter would see the beauty in my spirit, and celebrate that.  I have yet to convince a strict christian, jew, or follower of Mohammad, that acceptance is better than condemnation, or that some things just don't need to be fixed. Maybe this is a feature of paternalistic desert religions, but the children of Abraham seem particularly intolerant.

I am one of those things that doesn't need fixing.

I didn't choose to be trans, but I have come to embrace it.  If I can metaphysically turn the other cheek, I am happy to do so but only if acceptance of my authenticity is on the other side of the conversation.  When it is not I walk away.  The only accommodation I am not willing to consider is when intolerance becomes bigotry. If you step on my liberty expect a fight.  What you choose to believe, particularly in the absence of investigation and evidence, is your business.  But when it moves to oppression it is mine.  Sometimes I can do something tangible.  Sometimes I can only write a letter of rebuttal.  I suppose this falls into the latter category.  I wonder if they will print my remarks.

I just had a thought...

What if, the ones being tricked by Satan are the ones expressing bigoted views and forcing opinions onto others oppressing people?

That's exactly it, afterall God doesn't teach hate and bigotry.

Smiles, point, ill preach god wants you to be happy.
Then tell you I don't believe you should do the only thing that can make this so?

Not once has a man like this given a thought to the fact that what they say is against what god wants.
