Just curious how everyone is experiencing their transition as far as their doctors care. I finding that I'm very fortunate to be in a network of physicians associated with the University of Chicago that are an incredibly professional and caring team . I started to come to my therapy sessions properly. the staff of doctors and therapists and secretaries have been so unbelievable in making me feel normal. I hope others are experiencing this kind of care because  it helps so much.

Most of my health care team are associated with a major university as well.  I go to some office visits as Erin.  That has been a bit mixed.  I put up a really long post about the one visit where I called it The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.  There was one person being UGLY, and that sort of dampened my enthusiasm to go as Erin.  I explained that to the doctor and the issues were corrected.  Universities have rather strong anti-discrimination policies so their facilities are more trans* friendly than others in the area.

Congrats on getting out more and more as your true self!

Mine are amazing.  Faber is the endo and Bloodgood the therapist, Orlando FL Docs.  Older guys, and they hold no punches, they will be truthful and spot and call out rationalization when it comes up.  Some of us may have a hard time with that, I do not, and Faber was great on the initial apt because I was a complete nervous wreck.  I also have a great urologist here.

Going to injections Monday.

Sh'e took the little blue ones.

Just lovely. My GP's only comment was that he's not experienced with trans care so I should go to an endo to start hormones (I found one locally who specializes in trans HRT), but otherwise to let him know what I needed. He's also willing to prescribe my post-op HRT once I'm on a stable dose, as at this point I'm no different from a cis woman who had a hysterectomy and went into menopause young. He even did my first post-op internal exam, checking to make sure things were healing up properly.

All good.  My neurophysiologist was concerned for my health and how the hormones would effect me at first. Since then she has been in contact with everyone else everyone else and is never afraid to ask me questions. I swear sometimes my doctors talk more about me behind my back to each other then I do face to face,  (oh well saves me repeating myself)

I am lucky as my mental and family doctor was ok to work with me but only after i was the one to start the conversation .My mental doctor had long history with me and had not done trans work .i give the doctor info and doc building history of needs to help others ..My family doctor had long history with me and had worked with me threw my mental and physical rough roads .. At one point the doctor said the herbs i was on could not effect me .. But 4 years later i came out to my doctor and the reaction was like thats cool and has 5 other trans patient ..My findings is doctors can help if your open and prepared with your plans and info .. And its very important that your doctors code your condition to correct wording to have your health insurance pay off ..( have your doctor check your insurance wording to fit there rules)..If your on patch, pill, shot,my insurance will cover me as a female normal amounts of meds ...So i have to work within there system to not red flag my benefits ..You can have your doctor check to see whats the norm and adjust to system ( double patch or 6 pills is not normal and you and your doctor will have to find a loop hole or get it out of pocket) .Trans is not the norm in bible belt but good doctors oath is to give you help to be safe ,alive and you the tools to live a health life ..If your doctor not open to your needs shop around because its your life ,your money ,your rights to be the most you can be ...Use the internet as your phone book ,your map ,your research so your doctor will be on your side .You will be educated in your journey which is number 1 to be like girl scout ( prepared for anything ) Just my 2 and half cents ..AKA Sara
Life begins at 50 ..  if the boys only knew what there missing being girl ! The worst day being girls is still best day i have ever had ..(oh yea)..If being rich in life is have friends i hope you will join !!

Yeah I can't say enough great things about my endo. They actually listen to what I have to say and they haven't ever brushed me off. If I feel something is off they hear me out and if necessary adjust my hrt regimen asap. I feel pretty lucky to have found them so quickly when I was looking for an endo. Plus they also do my laser and I've had amazing results so far.  I LOVE MY DOCS!  :D

I built my entire medical team specifically for my transition.

I mean, except for like my dentist and optometrist but I don't expect they would have a lot to offer in that regard.
