Hi all
With  my own date fast approaching I've been wondering what if any weight those who already did GRS lost?

My height is just over 6' (183cms) and before HRT and my FFS surgeries, I used to weigh in between 75 and 77 kgs (165 - 169.4lbs) depending on the time if the year, a little more in winter, a little less in summer.

Following FFS in particular, my average weight shifted to a range between 73 and 75ks (160,6 - 165 lbs) as I never recovered the weight I lost in the weeks following the 2012 surgery.  Right now I'm about 72kgs (just over 158lbs).

I never put on weight during the summer and generally tend to lose some as it gets very hot here (only early June and already 35°C today ie. 95°F) which for means translates into loss of appetite. Since I also do quite a lot of endurance sport (cycling and rolling blading) I literally melt when the weather gets hot, typically losing up to 3 kgs compared to my winter weight.

I'll be doing GRS this August and would like to arrive for surgery as fit as possible as I believe this greatly helps with recovery. However, the way things are going, I'm also going to arrive very skinny. So, two questions for those who already did their surgery:

1. What if any weight did you personally lose following GRS?
2. Assuming lost weight is eventually regained, did the extra kilos go to places you were happy to have it  ie. cheeks, breasts, butt and thighs etc..?

Thanks in advance for any feedback people can provide!

I gained after GRS. and have not been able to shake it off.

Maybe someone else can add to this.

Maybe a difference between doing GRS in North America, where it seems you can put on weight by just breathing the air, and other parts of the world, especially Asia.. :)

More seriously,Izzy, you put on weight immediately after GRS or progressively since then? Also, if you are happy with your weight overall and put it on in the right places (my second question?), that sounds good to me.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

I feel it from the castration part of the GCS. It is know to help pack on weight and that is why they do it to animals.

For me it just just a huge snow ball, I quit smoking and that added some weight.

But i have to say some of the weight i have put on is now more in my lower part of my body in hips and backside that just would never go before.

I was a bit heavier than my surgeon would really have preferred, but was able to have a relatively uneventful recovery and things looking good.  In the past year I have stayed to +/- 1kg of the weight I was on the surgery day, and I have to have regular weigh ins for other medical issues, so I know it is still stable, even though I am being medically supervised on a reducing diet.  It has been boobs an hips that have traded with an old beer belly when I regain.

Wiser now about Post Op reality!!

I thought I would loose weight as not expecting to eat much after surgery and I woykd have 3 nil by mouth sessions......
I lost 5lb in hospital now home ive gained that back plus an extra 7lb but I guess that comes with not really doing much I know several uk girls who put a bit on after and it would appear common.

I will chip in that I too have gained after the surgery. It darn aggravating as well, trying to get it to go away but with my inability to do much I am somewhat at a disadvantage,  I will be looking into a health club with a pool soon however.

Thank you all for the feedback. Frankly, if the extra weight goes to places that feminize the body a bit more, I'll count that as a major bonus.
Meanwhile, still really hot here, around 103°F on Monday and  95-97 ° yesterday and today. As most houses have no AC, including my own, that is very, very uncomfortable...

What I wonder is after orchiectomy, how much more muscle mass I will lose?  I've never taken spiro and never had my levels checked.  I assume from testicular shrinkage and feminization that the magic is mostly working.  I have small breasts now and some butt where I had none whatsoever before.  My issue is that I was quite heavy pre-HRT, and mostly so due to being built like a football (that's American football, folks, not that thing we call soccer...) player.  I have had the hardest time losing the guy muscles, and I'm guessing it's because I still have too much T happening.  I am definitely less strong than I was, but my leg muscles are still huge, my arms are like tree trunks and I can feel quite a six pack, despite all the 12 packs I've tossed down my gullet.

Please tell me that natal female levels of T will finish off my "guy muscles" once and for all.  They make me feel freakish and fugly.  Now if all that weight would just go where it belongs...

Add me to those who put on a few pounds after GRS. :) It went to all the right places, but still. Brassard's recovery residence had a GOOD cook, too...

No change in muscles post-GRS, but I was basically chemically castrated already, apparently (pathologist said my testicles were permanently nonfunctional).

Hi Jill,
While always pretty slim, as a pretty serious athlete (still training 5 - 6 times a week up until 2010), I was also very muscular. I do take spiro but, after more than 4 years HRT, on a very low dose for the last year.

Among others, this is because my free T was so low last time I checked (2.5 mol/l v Normal: 30.1 to 189.8 or 0.7pg/ml  v  Normal 8.7 to 54.7) that I decided that I didn't really need it any more.

I guess that like Jenna Marie, I am basically chemically castrated already but as I have just redone complete blood tests, including free T, I'll know for sure when I get the results next week.

One way or another, I have definitely lost muscular mass on my upper body with arms that are now slimmer than very many genetic females. Just a little bit muscular for a woman of my age.. :)

Why haven't you checked on your T levels?

I figured it was irrelevent because I've only been on full HRT since last July, and my orchi is coming up on July 15.  The only thing the endo could really do to further drop the T was spiro, and I didn't want that unless absolutely necessary.  I'm being fairly conservative and slow with my transition, as to minimize the strain on my liver and kidneys.  Wow, did those already take a beating!
