Sterilising a packer?

Ooh okay. Should it be in the liquid together with the baking soda? I could also fill a pot with water and baking soda and suspend the packer inside it. Or fill a smaller pot inside it with the baking-soda-water and the packer

No liquid at all. Just dry baking soda in one end of the bag, packer in the other. I'll try this on my own when I get it, because I expect it will have a chemical smell out of the package.
