Sterilising a packer?

Okay, so the thing is, I bought a peecock 1st gen secondhandedly from another transguy (he wanted a bigger size, for sex. This one is just 4 inches, which is perfect for me!), and I am very happy with it so far, except for ONE thing. It smells. Very bad.
If it was new, I'd be sort of okay with that, but now I am concerned whether it might mean it's not hygenic, and I am in fact... smelling the previous owner. YIKES!
It smells really weird. Not clearly like silicone, but not clearly like pee/human either, but it smells suspicious enough for me to worry. After all, this thing has been around someone's genitals, and will now be around mine. Well, damn, it better be FREAKING CLEAN!

So anyone has advice/tips/ideas on how to get the smell out? I tried washing it with warm water and normal soap, but no avail. I thought about boiling it, but I dunno whether it can handle that, and I don't want to wreck it either. How about alcohol?? Maybe? I guess I can be okay with it smelling weird, as long as I'm certain that it's hygenic.
Thanks for the help guys!

What about lemon juice and water?

It's made of silicone so you can boil it for a few minutes to sanatize it. Rinse it with soap and water first then boil for 3-5 minutes or put it in the top rack of a dishwasher.

Nygeel, are you SURE it is made of silicone? Cause I heard non-silicone packers can melt if you boil them. (I see the 2nd gen is, but I cannot find anything on the 1st gen)

Pretty sure 1st gen is. Send peecock an email asking.

I wash my peecock with body wash in shower everyday and spray it with rubbing alcohol before put it on. But it is still hard to get rid of the smell, a couple of my friends also have the same problem with the peecock.
I have very little body odor, if any, and my urine is always very light because I keep myself very well hydrated. It just smells. Maybe it's the material. I have not tried to boil it, but it is made of silicone so it is ok to do so.

I'm pretty sure the top rack of the dishwasher works. "Honey, why is there a penis in the dishwasher?!" :)
BTW, I think the guy who sells it to you needs to do this. Boiling water would work if he doesn't have a dishwasher. Short of either are sex toy cleaners. I think they work very nicely.

things can be sterile and still have odor. I've been thinking of trying a couple things with my packer that should work for odor. Using some vinegar water can help with odor. Also there are enzyme cleaners.

I supervise our janitorial crew and pitch in on occasion so I've dealt with odor issues, which is why I know those things work.

I'm like 99.9% sure that all of the Peecocks are made of silicone, definitely not cyberskin.. I second the suggestion of boiling it in water for 3-5 minutes and if the odor doesn't go away, at least you know it's sterile.. though I think washing it in the shower afterwards with a good body wash or something might help to at least mask the odor a bit.. I've done that with my peecock when washing it regularly and it ended up smelling like my Dove men's body wash once.. oops!

I would use white vinegar and water for the smell, if you want to use a mild sterilizer liquid (here they sell it in alcohol-like bottles to sterilize floors and medical equipment) and then you can boil it in water for a couple of minutes.

Oh man haha that is pretty nasty, I can see why you want to do something.

OK, I can tell you that I have a Gen 2 and I used a diluted water/bleach solution on it once when it had experienced some...trauma at the hands of my brother lol. I kept it on for like a minute and then rinsed it very thoroughly. No noticeable effects on the material.

But I don't normally do that - I just throw it and the Mr Limpy in with the wash with my clothes and they come out smelling better than when they were in my pants.

Silicone does have a certain smell to it all on its own...it's hard to describe. Kind of a lemony...ish...odor? I think it has to do with the chemicals used to soften the material; but it shouldn't smell BAD.

I boil and bleach my silicone stuff on the regular and nothing's been damaged.  I've also heard of bleach helping with odor.  I just throw a cap full in a huge pot of boiling water, stick the stuff in for 2-3 minutes, pull 'em out super gently with tongs and I'm good to go.

Unfortunately, some platinum silicone products, especially the Peecock, absorb odours easily.

My partner has silicone butt toys, and recommends giving it a thorough wash first with soap and water, and then leaving it out in a ray of sun - not harsh sunlight, but in the afternoon or something. That can help lift odours.

Thanks for the advice guys. I had some other dude say "if it absorbs odours, it's not platinum silicone", but yeah... I don't care. As long as I can desinfect it, lol. The smell bothers me only a little (after all, who is gonna stick their nose in your pants? My biological plumbing prolly doesn't smell that fresh and nice either. Though I never attempted to smell it. Yechhhh!) the thought of it being unhygenic bothers me a lot.

I am going to boil it for a few mins (maybe with some vinegar or soap for the smell???), as then I am at least certain it is sterile and clean. Hopefully the smell will fade then too, or maybe it will absorb the smell of my body wash if only I wash it often enough... (better have it smelling like axe than... gross)
I'll tell you guys how it went/whether it still smells, etc.

I boiled it three times in soap, vingegar and water, and then used a desinfecting alcohol gel all over just to be sure. It smells a lot less now, though now it ALSO smells like vinegar, hahaha
Well, at least my fingers don't reek the second I touch it anymore, and the smell seems much 'cleaner'.
It is quite tacky now though, and attracts lint like crazy. Anyone has advice on how to fix that?

Corn starch. :) Just put it in a baggie with some corn starch and shake it about, then dust whatever corn starch is sticking to the packer off gently.
  •

Erik Ezrin

Ahhh thank you! I will do that then :)

To eliminate the odor, try putting it in a baggie with about 1/4 cup of baking soda, zip it closed, and let it sit at least overnight. An open box of baking soda in the fridge keeps it smelling fresh, so perhaps it will help your packer :)

  •

I heard baking soda can damage the packer though, but then again, it was said by the same guy who said I should not boil it. Anyone has more info on that?
I used it to wash my hair when I still had dreads, so I know it cleans very well. I shall try it on my packer sometime, as it still smells kinda odd. (but as I boiled it multiple times AND used rubbing alcohol on it, it HAS to be disinfected now)

You don't have to get the baking soda ON the packer. If you have a one gallon zip-lock, you can put the baking soda in at the bottom, then carefully lay the bag on its side and put the packer in near the zip, and seal it. No touching :)
