When can we cuddle after surgery?

My husband and I have been sleeping apart since my surgery to avoid any accidental bumping or anything like that in the night so as not to risk injuring my nipple grafts. I had surgery on the 10th of June, so about how long should I wait before we can sleep in the same bed and cuddle again? We've been missing it, but I know my recovery is important. When did y'all start cuddling with your significant others?

While I didn't have a significant other to cuddle with I do have a toy poodle who sleeps with me all the time and I put a soft pillow over my chest to cushion any bumps from her when she crawled across my chest....or slept there hah. I did that from day one. You're almost two weeks post op so maybe a pillow on your chest would help? I think I started sleeping on my sides again around week three....maybe. Ask your surgeon? I imagine it'd be the same time frame as sleeping on your side. Ask your husband to be extra gentle? My dog did jump on and across my chest twice without the pillow there when I was almost three weeks post op and nothing happened to my nipple grafts.

I was wondering the same. I'm having surgery in about 4 weeks and I've lived and slept with my husband for 10 years. We've slept apart for maybe 9 months total in that time between study abroad, moving countries and business trips. He's a cuddle big and has a hard time sleepin without me there. I'm an insomniac so he's used to me sitting in bed reading but not used to me being out of bed all night.

Hmm, well my wife and never slept apart other than the 3 days I was in hospital.

My chest was wrapped in a binder at night for 3 weeks, so it didn't matter if it got bumped other than being sore.  I found it impossible to lay on my side, so we couldn't spoon or anything like that - but sleeping apart?  Nah.

Some partners are a little worried maybe the first week re: bumping. But I do know others that did, and had no issues. It's not like right after surgery you are going to want to do much. Most surgeons say that 6 weeks is when you can continue ALL normal activity.

I didn't have a problem sleeping next to my partner, but it is not like we had a choice as we were away from home and only had one bed.  I probably would have asked to sleep by myself if it was possible.  Her moving around at night was bothersome/disturbing, but wasn'ta big deal..  I am not a cuddler so sleeping in different beds wouldn't phase me.
