Joan : No worries on the name, I didn't even notice. :)

I can say that of all the trans friends I have, they all say the same thing - hips took a LOT longer to show up. Maybe the body prioritizes breasts first?

My butt and hips... they are getting SO big.

I better watch it! I just ate a huge brownie today and I know where that is going ;)

It took about 5 months and then, one day I looked in the mirror and thought 'holy moly where did that waist come from?' It just sneaked up on me. Its continued to shrink further. I have hips too. which I would say came in gradually and started looking 'hippy' maybe about 9 months in and now look quite natural. TBH I would like more, but I have a feminine body shape now, so when I wear tight clothes, which is pretty much all the time, it is a big plus. I am grateful. I wish I could tuck my lower ribs in just a smidge, which I will do with some tight-lacing when I have the time to commit to it, but it's not a big problem.

Totally so :). If one wants bigger bewbs... there is BA surgery for that. But with hips it all gets much more complicated :).

Hmmmm, my plastic surgeon (darling, don't I sound soooo much like a cosmopolitan princess?  :D) has offered to move tummy fat to hips and butt.  Since I've only been on HRT for 3 months I think I shall wait a bit, quite a bit.  But does anyone know about such procedures and how good they are?

my hips have been steadily getting bigger. My hip measurement is at 40" and noticed some new stretch marks on my thighs and butt. Oh well, can't say it bothers me too much at this point since I absolutely love my curves. I think my waist is still at 29" or 30" idk..

But yeah gaining fat in that area has been steady. I've gained a few more lbs as of late so I think I'm at 144 from starting at 120 at the beginning of hrt. That's the course of over 2 years and 3 months on hrt.

It depends on how many millilitres of fat you have to move. Fat removed is removed long-term. Fat added is much less so. Much of it tends to be reabsorbed, so that's why you need to overcompensate for that. Putting on weight in great amounts will trigger new fat cells to develop in the areas where fat was removed. If you're realistic about these limitations you won't be disappointed.

Don't forget that your shoulders can also get narrower. :) I started off at like 18" shoulders and now it's around 14". My hips are actually around the same width as my shoulders these days, but I don't think it was primarily hip growth that caused that!

(And I definitely have more of a waist now, though I'm still pretty plump. If I can't be skinny, I'll settle for curvy.)

Whoah!  Is this true?  Our shoulders can get narrower?!  How is this possible?  Muscle reduction?
Is it progression if a cannibal uses a fork?

I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

If you lift your arm horizontal with the ground and feel your deltoids and the gradually lower your arm to your side you will be amazed at just how big the muscle really is. Because it is muscle though over time on HRT it can get smaller. I had never thought just how big of an impact it would make till I started really looking at some before and after pics.

I think people's bodies are much more soft tissue than they think.

This is cool information to know about the human body on hormones. Smaller shoulders, larger hips, larger breast. Wow, the best of everything for our femininity!

If I'm not mistaken though, the muscle reduction is typically one of the last noticeable changes to take place.  Like years.  Of course, if Susans has taught me one thing, its that everybody is different and it wouldn't surprise me if some ladies have noticed it a lot sooner.

I dont know if it's about age but I really noticed muscle reduction early(like 4 months in). I was very skinny and had little muscle to begin with. But the first thing I noticed were muscles on shoulder blades. When I raised my arms pre-hrt my shoulder blades really had sticked out like I was a swimmer, making my upper body look large. I was shocked when I saw these muscles literally gone!

As for hips in one year of hrt I gained 10 kilos and still gaining probably. Hips do stick out but sadly tummy gets plump too :/

Yeah, I don't remember exactly when I noticed the shoulders shrinking... but it was definitely within the first year sometime.

Im over a year into HRT so I stopped payin attention to the changes really. they are to gradual for me to notice, tho skiddlez's catches them all the time.

Ive done some photos during my transition and the result is no changing of my hips or something like that. I got some more weight in the last year, about 4 kilograms - so it gone to the belly only and it just looks more masculine now than before my HRT. Ive now idea why do you all have such results and ive these damend "men-problems". Thats really frustrating for me. I always had good blood levels and nothing happens. My body really looks very masculine after my 17 month HRT.  :'(
