Cassie 4 Ever!!!

So yesterday, I was fired from work for some things that were my fault, and a lot of which wasn't my fault. Things were blown out of proportion and I was held to a double standard even though technically they were correct legally for firing me. I'm not here to dispute that or go into details.

I was, (keyword WAS), so worried about finding another job for varying questions. Questions such as, do I go as a guy and tell them I am a woman, do I go as Cassie and explain I haven't fully transitioned, will they discriminate and just not hire me, and ect.

Any one else here have any of this happen to them?

p.s. - in 24 hours, I got a new job making more money, and was clear upfront about who I was and explained to them that the reason I left was because I wanted a new start where people only know me as Cassie. Maybe I am just lucky once again.

No, where I work everyone was amazing and accepting when I introduced myself to them as Julie.  Good luck with your new job.  Life can be hard, but is often joyful.

Had pretty much the same thing happen to me- wasn't fired but kinda of made to quit (long story).  Now that I'm gone though I feel tons better amazing how much psychological grip a workplace can have on you it's just easier to jump jobs about a year into transistion because at that point it's damn near impossible to pass as your old self and I've found sometimes you have the hardest time with people who knew your old self and just can't get their heads wrapped around the idea of your new self.

I've been fired for non trans related reasons. I was in stealth at work
Congratulations on finding a wonderful job so fast

The Creator was with you !!

Good for you for bringing it up that you wanted a new start, instead of complaining about your last job

As someone who has been in your situation before i would go as male and as time goes on and they notice your really looking female. At this point they will see how you
Do
Good
Work and your already hired so they don't have feel odd about hiring you. Growing on them is the best way to go. I use that approach and it gets me so far alrwady

If you're ever looking for a job and a little worried how you will be perceived. I suggest asking the company for their "Diversity Policy" upfront, it will clearly outline where they stand with diversity within the company. Its also a good thing to fall back on should you ever feel discriminated against (and i hope that never happens).

I also have a core value that I follow. "If they have a problem with my sex and gender identity, i don't want to work for them anyway." However I'm in a fortunate position where i can be picky about where i work with so much opportunity in my field (IT Developer).

Good advice. For those like myself who are lesbian MTFs, this can be done without even breaking stealth.

Nope - In fact, I seem to be having the opposite experience.

I live in southern California and I do IT work for for a smallish company that has a female CEO & president and has other women in top management positions. I had hope that this would work in my favor when I nervously came out to the CEO about a week and a half ago and it went extremely well - way, way beyond my wildest hope. The company is doing and saying all of the right things; I never imagined I'd get such a wonderful response. I figured that they would find a way to fire me. The CEO even said that it was going to be nice to have another female on the engineering team.

All that's left to do now is for Eva to show up for work in just a few more weeks after my name and gender change is complete.

I'm sorry that you have had such a raw experience for being who you are Cassie.
