Just being curious for the minute. I know i will perhaps never be able to afford it.

But does anyone have any references to private gender therapists in and around the Yorkshire area of the UK?

I'll find out for you Wishy......

Private would be easier and quicker and the NHS could take many years...

It was 140 pound, for basically an hour session. This was 6 years ago though.

I just rang them and they don't have a private practice at the Porterbrook Clinic........but Kevan Wylie does work at a private practice at:

Are you looking for somebody to just facilitate transition/HRT/SRS or are you actually looking for therapy.  If it's the former you might be better going to see Dr Curtis in London.  He's not exactly cheap but you won't have to see him that many times.  Getting to London by train is pretty cheap and easy (at least from Sheffield it is).

If you're just looking for therapy for gender issues I can point you in the direction of a couple of people in Sheffield who could help.

That's 312 Fulwood Road, not forward (easy mistake).  What's funny is that I used to live in Ranmoor Halls Of Residence which is next door to that place and I never knew what it was until now.  :D

You might think that £150.00 is expensive for one private appointment but the NHS GIC clinics charge your PCT about £350.00 per NHS appointment.

Caroline, I'll tell you why that happened......I rang them this morning for the address details and they gave me the information over the phone and the lady spoke too quickly...

Indirectly it is.....you pay taxes don't you?.....also the waiting list for the NHS clinic in Sheffield is 3 years!   I know what option I would go for........

The more you learn about the NHS regarding gender clinics the more you will see private is the best option...
  •

Jay

Yes I have paid enough taxes. Well I will find out how much it is with bupa.

Thank you Berliegh :)

It's 6 years actually if you live in the Sheffield PCT area.  They're currently seeing patients referred in 2001

Think about it Jaston, it cost £150.00 for a private consultation but you could get an appointment straight away and a possible referral the same day. With the NHS you could wait months, or years! for an appointment and then they will make you wait 6 months again for another appointment and still not get a referral from them...

£150.00 is only about the same cost as a laser session..

Caroline, They told me 3 years for Sheffield on the phone this morning...
  •

Jay

Thank you. Well when I get back on the ladder I will defiantly have to look into that! Thank you.

With Bupa though if you are referred for surgery... will you have to pay for it out of your own pockets or then get it done on the NHS?!
