Hi everyone, it's me, Keaira.

I just wanted to post an update here.

so, things are still bad. The landlord was working with us, but now wants us out, I am still unemployed and now my car needs repaired. The rear, driver side brake line leaks, the caliper was pretty much destroyed along with the rotor.
So, its bad.

the good news is....
I have a new caliper, I just baught a new rotor and in the next couple of days will have new pads and a new brake line for it. Never worked on a car this in depth before so its a little scary. And I'm doing it without a manual.
AND... on July 14th, I will be going to truck driving school for 3 weeks. They always need truck drivers so it gives me something to fall back on. Its scary and exciting all at once. And kind of silly. Lil ol me driving a big truck.
Besides, I need time away from everything. I miss my chats with Caleb and seeing how everyone is doing.
Big hugs to everyone,

Best Wishes,
Keaira (^_^)

I had a car that was that far gone and perhaps worse once. It cost me more to keep it running than I paid for it in the first place. I was in college at the time and I managed to convince my parents to get me a newer car since they were paying the repairs anyway. Huge improvements but it still had a lot of issues. My older car had the exact issues you mentioned and it cost over $1000 to fix it.

brake rotor$34
Brake pads$20
Brake caliper $70 until I gave them the old caliper. So, - $33 off.
Brake line $14

Labor $0.00

So, I think either you had more than a brake issue or you were ripped off

Ummm... for the record... brakes, muy important.  If a car won't go, it sucks but no big deal.  If a car won't stop... yeah, big deal.

Automotive brake systems are a little complex and detail oriented, especially if you're breaking open the sealed fluid system.  You must, must, MUST get it back together without air, debris or moisture in the fluid line or you're headed for big trouble.

If you don't have a manual, and you've never worked to this detail on a car's brake system, then I highly recommend that you enlist the assistance of someone with more experience than you have.  You're going to need a second person anyway to help you get the air out of the brake lines (unless you have access to a vacuum brake tool.)

Be careful.  Be safe.

I have some help for the bleeding of the brakes.i would take it to a professional but I cant even get an estimate til next week.  So I have to do this on very limited resources. It could be worse though. It could me tearing into a jet engine. Of course THAT I do know and have done before.

It was over 10 years ago so I don't recall everything, but it was a lot more than just 4 parts. I'm pretty sure it was all breaking related though.

I was working on my brakes yesterday, and one of the neighbors stopped by. She seemed both shocked and amazed at the sight of a woman changing the brakes on a car -_-
Then she suggested I get a man to help me.

I wish some women would realize that there are girls out there who are not damsels in distress.

Still, this was the first time we had ever spoken to each other. During the conversation she thought I was a lesbian who couldnt have kids.  When I told my wife, she acted like she was pee'd off about being seen as a lesbian. Frankly, I dont care. This marriage has been going down the tube for years

Lol, well come on...you're over 3 years on HRT! You don't look like a man. Even if she knew you were born male, just the fact that you look so female is going to draw your wife's orientation into question with strangers, even if you and I know she is straight.

I told a friend about you taking driving lessons for the trucks and she said "oh, women are allowed to drive trucks?" o.O (she's not from here lol)

My wife's reaction pretty much sealed the deal. She doesnt want me to get SRS and gets pissy when she is seen as a lesbian. She wants a man, I'm not one.

I have no problem with women working on cars. I just know I'm never going to be one of them.
