It's now an accepted fact that T reduces blood sugar levels but does anyone know how this works for transmen? I recently took a blood test and my sugar was high but within the normal acceptable range. I have been taking a medium dose of Androgel (half a package/day) since February but without a doctor's supervision because I did not get any support from the healthcare system here until recently when my gyn doc decided to finally take over for me and support me in this.
Is there anyone out there who is pre-diabetic/diabetic and is using T as a way to combat high blood sugar levels? If so, are you pre- or post-OP? I am trying to gather information right now so I can solve this on my own because I am pretty sure that my levels are likely linked to my Androgel dosage somehow, seeing how there is such a strong correlation between glucose and T. I do not know my T levels as of this writing moment, still waiting for the lab report to return. I will call them tomorrow as it's unfortunately past office hours already. I am post-OP in that I have removed both of my ovaries.
If anyone else is curious how this case turns out I'll keep you updated as well. My biggest problem right now is that I am being monitored at two different healthcare centers and I think it would be the best if I could centralize it under the supervision of one endocrinologist since they are only measuring glucose and T independently of each other and may therefore miss out on the correlation I just realized. Anyway, I would actually not be all surprised that my T levels will return back in the lower range and this is likely the culprit.
For clarification, I am not overweight but have normal BMI and I am physically active in that I try to squeeze in at least 3-4 hours a week with physical exercise and avoiding as much fast food as possible and if I am eating out I rather eat at a proper place like a café than a fast food chain. I've been eating worse since I returned back to work though, but I wouldn't say terrible. Just not as healthy as it was.
