Has anyone else felt pain when shaving after laser?

I shaved today for the first time after laser hair removal targeting my facial hair.
I found that the hair was a lot stiffer and experienced pain when severing the hairs.
At the moment I have a burning sensation where I have shaved like a mild form of the pain from the laser procedure.

Can anyone who has undergone laser tell me if this a normal reaction?

I have had shaving aggravate the pain of mild sunburn I have had from the laser before.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

How soon after? Ultimately shaving should get easier but you shouldn't be shaving for a little while until the skin recovers. They should tell you how long at the place where you got it done.

4 days or so, plus or minus, before shaving. Then it can still be ineffective as hairs fall out and aren't rigidly in place for a razor to cut.  All told, a week to ten days before you'll be happy with the outcome.

It has now been three days since I had laser, perhaps I should have waited a little longer *facepalm* "ouch!"

I get mine done on a Tuesday afternoon usually and I have to shave Thursday morning before work. The first couple of shaves afterwards kinda suck but I agree with Ashely that it takes about a week to ten days before it feels nice and normal again after laser.

I had such a strange reaction to laser.  Just after one time, a few days later and my hairs seemed to be growing even more rapidly!  They were very dark and thick and I thought, "Oh no!  Its sped up the process!!!"  I didn't experience any pain shaving.  Just about 2 weeks after, I was exfoliating my face with a wet rag (which is what they told me to use) and the hairs were just coming out left and right!  It was freaking ridiculous!  They said to expect 15 to 20% reduction the first time, but I definitely got about 40% reduction.

Also, the hairs that are still growing are mostly under the nose and chin.  The sides of my face are pretty barren with the oddest shapes of growth pattern.  On one side it is patchy and spotty like a dalmation.  On the other side, well the strangest thing is happening with a perfect line of hair zigzagging like a lightning bolt down from the middle of my ear to below my chin.  Can't wait to get that out!

Well that just means that you're the chosen one and the best hope for transpeople everywhere ;) (I kid, I kid).

It's my understanding that saviours with lightning bolt markings are pretty ineffectual and rely on deus ex machina to win the day. Don't worry, I'm sure things will resolve themselves somehow and you will be hailed as a hero.

You'd be better off if you were armed with unnaturally red hair, a lute and... Sympathy...

You need to wait a bit longer than three days before shaving after laser. They should have given you better after treatment advice.

And here I thot the wand and invisibility cloak would have done it ;)

I can see the problem I'm going to have too.. after a session, I am unable to go a week/ten days before shaving. If I have it done on Tues, I have to be clean shaved on Friday.  :(

I've never been told not to shave after :o I've had five treatments so far too each time I shaved the next day. They still seem to be working though. Would they possibly have worked better if I waited? I'm at the point now that if I shave I don't need make up to cover beard shadow though.

I also shave about two days later and have never had a problem. I apply cortisone (I think, I just use free samples) as dictated by my Doctor morning and night for two to three days afterward --if that helps.
