Bought this new earring on etsy! I think it's really unique! It's just the one, fitted for the left ear. What do you guys think?

Or is it too unique?
T-Obvious?
Clashy?
Over dramatic?

Well I've always been a Hot Topic gal. And I don't have to get my ear pierced for it.

I was wondering how it worked. It looks like there must be some way it attaches at the top. The bottom looks like it holds a normal jeweled stud.

I am not a big fan of that type of ear ring, but I will give you that it is really cute.

There is a long sturdy wire from the top that wraps around the ear, the diamond is welded onto the piece.

Ah, I see. The wire is hidden on the other side of the ear. I like it. I've never had my ears pierced, so I love creative alternatives like this.

I might have to get a few alternatives such as this. I found out I'm allergic to certain metals and the cheaper earrings I've been wearing lately have been elongating my piercings. I've been told that I can wear what I've been wearing but only for about three hours or so then I have to take them out. I'm told my ears will heal back up. But my right is a new piercing that I hope well stay open.

Soooo, finding alternatives like this that I can wear all day might be a good alternative.

It's definitely not cheap, but if you aren't allergic to them it might be a worthwhile investment. Always check etsy for earring that don't require piercings, or stuff

Thanks, I'll check it out. I was told either surgical steel, pure silver, 24k gold shouldn't cause me an issue.

Yeah, most of mine are sterling silver, I have a few that are iron/steel (and hold a diamond stud)

I was told I can wear clampons, but I've always found them a bit uncomfortable. I might just have to get used to them though until I can afford the more expensive alternatives. :eusa_shifty:

Hi Allyda,
I got my ears pierced in late december 1982. Since then it was a succession of metals I developed allergies to and could no longer wear for more than a few hours. My problem was chronic acidosis which caused those metals to corrode and dissolve and be partly absorbed, even gold. Once a metal allergy began, it stayed. I'd say the best thing is to not to sensitize yourself in the first place. I never developed an allergy to titanium, I'd say that's probably the best earwire metal for while one's piercings are still healing. Another inexpensive option which is even more hypoallergenic would be a short piece of nylon fishing line. It may look cheap and homespun, but that would only be for until the piercings fully heal, and the nylon is very comfortable to wear.
Thanks. How would you wear the fishing line, through your piercing or around the top of your ear to hold earrings up? I got plenty of that in many sizes.

But since last night when i posted my reply to you, i discovered that since the 80's progress has made the nylon fishing line solution obsolete. These days you can get relatively ok earrings with non-allergenic plastic posts.

It looks like forum rules say i can't post a link to online merchants selling them, but if you go to your favorite search engine and search for "ptfe earrings" then you should probably find what I'm talking about.
Thanks, I'll definitely check that out! :eusa_dance: :icon_yes:
