...As I've been on hormones and anti - androgens for 7 years with little effects so far regarding achieving any fat- redistribution or breast growth.....it was suggested by an endocrinologist that I try Zumenon? does anyone know much about this HRT drug or the benefits over my present HRT (ethinyestrodial)?

Looks like the same thing as ethinyestrodial, at least in effects. It is a DVT threat to natal women with low or less than normal physical activities (read: overweight and inactive) and it may incorporate the same risks as Premarin® in it's heyday.

If it DOES act like Premarin, then I feel it's gonna work wonders for male-to's.......Premarin did just that for me in the middle sized dosages.

Here's a link to the efficacy and side effects: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100002907.html

It also appears to be a UK-Only drug at this time.

I've been on both Premarin and ethinyestrodial for nearly 7 years....so far my fast re-distribution is didly sqit....zero.....I am a as straight as an ironing board. No hips ot shape whatsoever.......and only a small anount of breast growth.
Becausae of this I have a breast operation lined up but I would prefer it if I could grow my own..

Zumenon is estradiol hemihydrate, mostly the same as estrofem (just cheaper and different kind of pills).

Zumenon is not like premarin or ethinyl estradiol.

EE>premarin>estradiol hemihydrate>estradiol valerate

potency wise that is.

Research progesterone and progestins, specifically duphaston.

I've also tried estrofem anyway years ago and it wasn't of any benefit....so I suppose I'm back to square one..

Yes, Zumenon is estradiol hemihydrate, exactly the same as Elleste and Estrofem .... but Estrofem is a brand apparently not available in the UK unless you get it through self-med (shame as I love its handy packaging in a plastic wheel shaped "click" dispenser !).

Progynova is estradiol valerate, bio-identical estrogen too but which the body metabolises in a more indirect way, and which a small percentage of women fail to metabolise and so get nil effect.

"Bio identical" means that standard blood tests will show your estradiol level, and it will be analogous with the reading for a natural woman (cyclic 40 -1930 pmol/l) so you know that you are at the right level if you measure about 1000 some 5 - 6 hours after taking a tablet.

Synthetic ethynil estradiol (and I believe premarin too ?) are not detecteable in the blood so you have no clear way of establishing the right doseage vs effect.

Ethynil estradiol is meant to be the most potent "feminiser" at highish doseage or depot (contraceptive tabs usually contain ethynil with progesterone but in small amounts).  Problem with ethynil is that it is by far the most dangerous in risk of clots and is not normally prescribed to over 40s.

Berleigh, do suggest you take a progesterone if you don't already, its reputed to help breast development.  Just that people say any development you get is likely to come in the first 3 - 4 years, so after 7 years maybe you resign yourself.  But surely the HRT has helped you in massively improving skin tone, reduced body hair, and feminised your face a bit through fuller cheeks etc ?

Thanks Laura, I have just started to take a progesterone as a supplliment which I think is already making a difference. I'm my own endo (as I don't have one) and I find the best way forward is through trial and error and talking to other girls about their own experiences. The two endo's I had in the past were not very experienced....

I am over 40 and have been on ethinyestrodial for 6 years but haven't had any bad effects from it and I still find it's the most effective HRT for me so far..
