Aussie trans and HRT

So after being frustratingly stuffed around by my most recent doctor for four appointments before finally realising that they didnt want to deal with my trans issues in any medical way, im curious to know 'whats the go' in regards to HRT in Australia?

Is it an "informed consent" structure like some of our international brothers and sisters? or some other complicated hoop jumping situation?

Is it any different between states in Australia-- I'm mainly looking at New South Wales

i do plan on visiting the gender centre when im in Sydney next week, but any help is apprecaited as i feel im kinda at the end of my tether  (there is only so much rejection a gal can handle)

Well my situation was - therapy about 12 years ago, and my therapist actually had sent HRT approval back to my referring GP.  Went back 2 years ago, asking for blocker, and next thing I know, he says to me "you need to be on E" and I ended up with an endo referral.

So I've now been on low dose for 2 years.  In my case, you could say I jumped the hoops, in another sense, it was a pretty loose informed consent - but there are extenuating circumstances in my case.

How I started

Went to the Gender Center and asked how dose one get started on hormones
Recommend to a clinic in Sydney, (they may know of one up your way). Told to ask for a psych referal for gender issues.
Made appointment at clinic while I was there also got my blood taken in advance (torture I'm very phobic about needles)
Called psychiatrist and had a few sessions with him. (I had four or five a friend of mine had two).
Two weeks later received a copy of the approval letter.  Called the clinic and started hormones after the next appointment.

I would believe they would know of some places up your way, or least some psychiatrist. I found earlier (at least in Sydney) doctors in or connected to sexual clinics would help you with hormones if they had no experience but you would have to do all the heavy lifting
