Hey guys,
I wasn't too sure where else to ask this, but I can't find a whole lot of information on it. I read recently that Rooibos (Red tea or african bush tea) produces a plant derived estrogen. Now I know that I probably can't take enough of this stuff to transition, nor am I interested in that... but I recently started HRT (estradiol and spiro pills). In the past I've drank lots of Rooibos because it helped me focus and calmed down, but I've stayed away from the stuff since going on estrogen.
Basically my question is this: Should I be concerned that my favorite tea is having an interaction with my medication. I don't really know how much estrogen is actually in this tea (if any, internet could be lying, but i did see it on a couple sites), and will it be enough to interfere with my usual HRT dosage? I already asked my endocrinologist, and she said it was probably okay, but I wanted to ask here anyways.
