I had this idea for a prank phone call. It had been brewing in my head for some time. But like beauty, a good prank phone call needs a witness.
In South Philadelphia, parking is a very touchy subject. It's like the Wild West, where there are no laws, and everybody fends for themselves. Many bully tactics ensue. Sometimes dirty tricks are played. Sometimes fights break out.
Even the comments of this video get heated in typical Philly parking fashion.
Last night I was hanging out with a friend. A girl I'm attracted to. I'd love to share kisses with her, but if that never happens, that's okay. I enjoy her friendship. It was time for this prank to come to life. We looked up the number to a "popular" Philadelphia towing company. I put on my best South Philly macho greaseball voice and yelled into the phone about how I needed them to tow this car, and it's my spot, and everybody on the block KNOWS that it's MY spot, and I WORK UNION! And on and on. I was yelling pretty loud, pretty much frothing at the mouth.
And what did the guy say to me? "I'm sorry, ma'am. There's nothing we can do."
Ha ha ha! I was trying to sound as gruff and macho and South-Philly-->-bleeped-<--dude as possible, and the guy called me "ma'am."
I guess I'm doing something right.
