As the title says, I was outed at a restaurant with a friend of mine. It wasn't as bad as it might sound, the waitress came over and said she doesn't normally pry but asked how far along I was, normally this would have totally blind sided me but I overheard the words "pre op" from her direction a bit earlier and assumed she was either talking about me or I miss heard. After I told her not very far long, she smiled and said congratulations and generally seemed pretty positive. It seemed to bother my friend a lot more then it did me. She was very nice about it even if it was kind of personal. And I'm not really ashamed of being trans I just keep it quiet until I trust someone, but it does indicate I wasnt passing quite as well as I would have hoped. I'm not sure if it was my voice or the fact that I lost my choker on a rollercoaster and my neck was exposed that gave it away. Anyway thought I would share since getting called out on it is kind of a new thing for me.

I am a weird girl, I like video games and skirts, swords and nail polish, sharks and black lace...not sure if that's normal, definitely sure that I don't care. =P

Maybe it's because she overheard the word "pre op" as you said, and she has some friends who are trans and she is really informed about transitioning, and heard more thing (?)... but you look very passing to me, maybe it's your mannerism because as look goes you are a female XD

Having been a server myself for a few years in my younger days, don't worry about it too much. In that kind of job, you deal with people all day long. And good servers are very observant of people. It's kind of like being hyper-aware of trans stuffs once you start identifying that way.

I hadnt thought about just being the observant type =P that's a good point. And I'm fairly sure she was the one I heard say pre op but she also still refered to me as she to who ever she was talking to. I don't really mind people knowing and no one else has said anything this whole vacation so I'm still doing good. My friend was sure I was completely passable but I guess some people are just really observant >_<

Are you *absolutely* sure she meant "in transition"? :) I ask because that "how far along are you?" is something I hear 99% of the time to pregnant women... and you look fantastic in your avatar.

If I hadn't heard pre op I might have thought so also I don't think any one wound think I was pregnant. Still thanks for the compliments it really helps. I will have to update my avatar once I get home. Maybe one with my new cowboy hat =P
