the perfect or nearly perfect album

the perfect rock, alternative or pop album

these genres have been known to have many records where there are only two or three good songs on the disk, and the rest of the songs are lame.

but the perfect album is totally great all the way through.

aside from Sgt. Peppers and Tapestry, what other albums do you think are perfect, or, nearly perfect? please include release date, if you know it.

I agree Ell, Hounds of Love is a GREAT album. I absolutley love "And Dream of Sheep"!
But my other favorite album would have to be From the Choirgirl Hotel-Tori Amos

i used to dislike Tori because i thought she sounded too much like Kate Bush. but now i really like her. and she's friends with Maynard, from Tool.

Yep.  I got the soundtrack too.  It's got some good outtakes of 'visions of johanna' and 'desolation row'.

I've heard of the Carole King Tapestry record, but never got my hands on it.

Yeah, they do sound alot alike. But I think they're music is much different. And the only reason my brother awknowledges Tori is because he likes Tool.

Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.

That was in the top of the album charts for decades.  No other album has had such staying power.

It's still amazing.

I should get it out and play it on the new "hifi"

I can understand the bob dylan/lou reed one.  "Sweet Jane" is similar to dylan's style especially in the live version.  I've always made a connection.

My favorite psychedelic masterpieces are Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd, Aoxomoxoa, After Bathing at Baxters by Jefferson Airplane, and Revolver

Have you seen Roger Waters live by any chance? The past year he has been touring and playing Darkside of the Moon in its entirety in the second set. He also played other great Floyd classics. Probably the best concert I've seen, saw him once in 06, and saw the same show again a couple of months ago (well a quarter of the show at least lol) Great concert!!

Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys released May 16^th, 1966.

(One of the studio session musicians on the album was a guy named Glen Campbell.)
