Chicago is only a few hours drive east, There is the museum of science and industry, the planetarium. Brookfield zoo. rush street , old town, boys town, the field museum and of course the art institute.

This group has support meetings and social events.  Their site also has therapists, endos and other resources if you need those.

What kinds of things are you looking to do?  I have lived here most of my life.
