I have a curious question. Everyone comes down with a cold, or the flu, or a virus, at some point. What I wanted to know was whether anyone has noticed a difference in the severity of the cold etc after starting hrt?
When we look into a mirror, we see who we really are. But when we look into our minds, we see whoever we think we are.

I can't say I've noticed any difference. If anyone does it maye worth noting if they've changed their lifestyle (eg weight loss, exercise, stopped smoking, stopped drinking, different diet) because of HRT, I imagine that would have more of an effect on the immune system.

I have noticed that my female staff tell me that when one of the guys is off sick it is due to man flu. I'm accepted as being immune to it.

2nd time round at transitioning I caught a cold I couldn't shake the only difference from when I was younger.

-Being on hormones
-having saner work hours
-different epilepsy medications
-sleep schedule was different
-I was older

Still was hardly eating and trying to work through it instead letting my body rest, (I said I was older not smarter :P)

Can't say that I've been sick since starting E.
Did feel a bit off in Manila, put that down to the heat but still didn't get sick there.

I am due a mental health day though as I want to shout at the sky at the moment..
Not happy. >:(

No difference.  My WBC count has always been on the low side of the average range, and still is.  I take marginally better care of myself so I've avoided the worst of this years colds and flus.

On the other hand, I get muscular headaches a lot more frequently now...
(There's a research project in there somewhere....)

Edit:
Jenny,

Hope things are ok...  Sounds like your having a rough time.  :(

Yes, I seem to get sick more often and more severely now. Though that didn't really become a serious issue until post-GRS, so it may be as much or more about the strain surgery put on my body and immune system.

I've noticed that since i've been on HRT, I tend to get sick a little more often. I very rarely got sick before so the difference still isnt all that big.

I seem to be very attractive to viruses . I'm one of the lucky ones they seem to favor , but I don't see to much difference before or after, but I'll let you know after another year goes by.

I rarely got sick before hrt and its been the same in the ten years since. Along with my overactive metabolism, my immune system is very strong too.

I haven't been really sick and I tent to get a cold once in the winter time and once in the summer. My last winter one just seem to hang around forever and I caught it from a friends daughter in elementary school. I'm just now getting over a summer one and it seems to be a quicker one and usually the summer ones are the worse for me. So so far no difference than pre HRT.

I've always been one that takes care of myself. I eat right, etc., and as a result I'm never one to catch too many colds/flu. That hasn't changed since starting my hrt.

Man flu? Is this local slang or something?

My immune system has always been good, I rarely get sick since starting HRT I seem to be even more resistant, but that is likely due to a multitude of positive lifestyle changes.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

WoW! Hikari not to sidetrack the thread but you look awesome in your new Avatar!

Back on topic: Same here. I've always been resistant to colds, flu's, etc. That hasn't changed since starting my hrt -if anything my immune system has gotten stronger.

I barely ever got sick before..but since I started hrt, I get sick around the same time every year now for that past 2. Crossing my fingers I don't get sick this time around.
