allisonmaybe?

Hi everyone, my name is Allison, I have recently accepted myself as a trans woman, after many years of slipping in and out of denial. In the past week I have came out to my parents (who immediately accepted me for who I am), as well as scheduled an appointment with a gender therapist. If anyone has any advice that might make my transition go smoother I would be happy to hear it.

Hi, welcome. Advice is a big topic. If you have questions about anything in particular and want to see related threads, go to google and type your query before or after "site.susans.org" and you should find a goldmine of experiences. You can also learn quite a bit by just browsing through forum topics and reading whatever seems relevant.

Allison

As you are already off to a great start with supportive parents, an appointment made with a gender therapist and having found Susans you appear to be doing fine.   Read, ask questions, find a support group, take the time to understand, accept and learn to express your identity in the most authentic way possible.

If you transition it really is a transformation.  It takes time but there are many who are either further along the road or at a similar stage.  Never be afraid to ask questions or to seek support.  We are all here for each other and wish you well.

Safe travels
