I'd love any tips and opinions, and please be honest. I'm pre-t. The second two are after I trimmed my hair myself for the first time.
Oh, also, tell me how old I look.

I'm still really new to all this, and I don't really want to go on T yet, as I feel I'm not ready for that yet (I have a feeling I might be more fluid gender, but I still get gender Dysphoria (spelling arg) hmm) but I'm just wondering, how do I pass so far. Any advice? Dont hold back any nicities, I want hard, cold facts (I need to loose weight so Ill be hoping to slim down my face at least). But I love my longish emo hair and tees so I really don't want to change them. (also this is picture heavy)

Me in my big shirt and glasses (sorry I suck at taking pics)

Me in a tighter shirt. it shows off my arms better but it gives me the dreaded uniboob

(dunno if you can see it here) but because of this, I tend to wear oversize shirts mostly because im trying to hide my chest as im pretty big

Also a close up of my face without the glasses

My smile pretty much kills the attempt of passing along with my voice (which literally sounds like a sexy woman with a lisp)
I'm not sure what to do to make it even more to pass but I don't want to go onto T. At least not yet as I'm working in a coffee shop as well and they currently know me as a female (and I cant wear my binder there, its too vigorous to wear something tight)But as long as I can at least pass as a teenage boy (I look like a 15 year old girl anyway despite being nearly 21)
(real sorry bout the big post btw)

BlueGemFox - I don't think your tees are the problem (I like them). I think something big is your hair, which is a very obviously feminine style. A fairly short style would suit you well, I think. Also, I'd recommend buying mens' pants that are the right length, if you can, so you don't have to cuff them. There's nothing wrong with the cuffs, but if you already have a somewhat feminine look it probably won't help.
The emo style is cool, but if you'd like to pass as a boy/guy, going conservative is best. Jeans, sneakers, tees that hide your chest or don't draw attention to it, flannels and plain button-ups. Imo, this is what separates male from butch if you have some features that aren't extremely masculine already.

Thanks for the help, lucaas! My hair is actually the guys style cut, but it might be the bangs that's giving it a feminine look. Pants are the hardest part however. I can have them uncuffed, but because I'm really short with really wide hips, any jeans I buy seem too long as I get them just snug enough around the hips and legs. Is there specific types if jeans that would work on short but wide guys? Skinny jeans fit my shape but again, would be too feminine. I'll try getting some plain button ups and trying that out. I have bigger shoes though to give my feet that bigger look

I did have a very short cut 2 years ago however, and holy damn I look like David tennant! But I was very skinny then so my face was less puffy, I need to find the picture.

Ps I think you're passing really well, wish I could leave some great feedback but I don't know enough yet xD IMO you look about 16-17

Dalex: That means a lot man, thanks. Think I'll keep to the hairstyle then. Yeah, got a bit lucky on the jawline, not sure how. both parents have pretty heart-shaped faces.

So Looking at my hair and such, I decided to see if maybe I could do something at it. I dont really want to cut it yet as I'm not sure how to cut it as (and it was a really expensive cut too. Saved up for it.)
So I decided to try another outfit mix. How well did I do?

I think the hat helps. For me, it's less about the cut and more about the colors. Guys don't normally color their hair the way yours is. But it would also help if the back wasn't spiked as much, I think. Also, I'm not sure about the necklace. Beyond those small things though, I think your face is very masculine looking. You have nice thick eyebrows. Have you considered trying to buy women's jeans that are styled like men's? The problem is that a lot of men's jeans for bigger guys are sold with a pretty long inseam. But it seems to be easier to find women's jeans with an androgynous style. Another thing is that you could measure your waist and inseam and special order jeans online. I think the tshirts are fine though. I really can't see your chest.

Again, I actually took the colours from a guys style cut, but maybe thats because most male emo haircuts are feminine anyway? but thats probably a good point too. I can wear the back down nice and flat actually. I should give that a try and take a pic next shower (hair is full of product right now). I usually wear skull necklaces, but that one I haven't taken off for years. Though, in my location, a lot of women do wear these particular stone charms, so thats probably not helping yeah. Im pretty glad I got at least some masculine looks in my face, that was my most biggest concern (as im always being called my mum's twin sister). Though I never thought about special ordering jeans. I will defenitly have to try that as finding square womens jeans is nigh impossible here, particularly seeing as jeans cost nearly 100 bucks here for a good pair. I am so glad my shirts are working, that was my biggest fear.

but thanks a lot for the info, kdbrrw!!

BlueGemFox - I'd recommend trying on some mens jeans in a store. My "rule" for pants (for me, anyway!) is to get styles such as slim or slim-straight, no bigger. Since my hips are wider than the average guy's and yours probably are too, if I were to get a style such as "relaxed", that aren't fitted somewhat in the legs, then my legs would look bizarrely large.

I'm sorry, this is kind of hard to explain, haha. You don't want to look like you're swimming in your jeans, or that your legs are disproportionately large compared to your upper body. I think it sort of makes your torso look shorter because of how large your legs would look in unfitted pants, you know?

My favorite pair of jeans are skinny jeans and I feel like they feel and look just right on me. They "show off" my legs, but not in a bad way. They aren't skin-tight, so they make my hips appear to be just as wide as my upper thighs. Slim style jeans and some pairs of slim-straight have the same effect.

Obviously this won't be the same for every guy, but I've heard others give this same advice and it works well for me. I've got CRAZY skinny arms, so when I wear my skinny jeans that are more fitted to my body I look at least a little more proportionate.

WOW, this turned into a rant. Sorry! I hope it made sense. And thanks, BlueGemFox! :) I'm always worried about passing in pictures since I'm the opposite of photogenic.. oh, and I think that's the oldest age any stranger has estimated me to be! Haha. I feel like I look 14 even though I'm 19. No one ever thinks that I'm an adult.

No problem! Im about nearly 21 and I look 14-15 as my born gender as well as my preferred gender xD. I actually have mens skinny jeans, however I wear skinny jeans often as a female and I got some pretty wide hips and a well rounded backside thanks to my mums genes.
But maybe I could give it a shot actually, I haven't tried them yet. I'm mostly afraid it will bring more attention to my legs and hips seeing as I am very curvy but maybe a shirt over them might help. May even look more better with my style too, lucky I have pretty thick arms so I can get away with some larger legs. Ill have a look for some more mens jeans in stores and see which ones fit well.

Edit: I gave the skinny jeans a shot, my guy ones did not fit at all (need to loose me some pounds) so I had to resort to some womens skinny jeans, but I think its made a much bigger difference

Ill try getting some mens skinny jeans soon. how am I going so far now?

BlueGemFox,

I'm sorry, but I am going to have to go with the other guys saying that your hair color and hair style takes away from you looking male.  When you have your hat on covering in it (like in your avatar and the one in the dressing room), you look more male.

I think that when a person buys clothes (jeans, in this example), they should care less about if they are men's or women's and more about what will help their bodies look more masculine.  Personally, I would say that the first pair you have on is a better choice (except the rolled up part), when it comes to looking more male.  I agree that skinny jeans accentuate a person's curves.

If you are not binding, that and wearing black shirts (especially the plain black one like you have in the dressing room pic), will help with passing, as well.

damn yeah, I really like the colour too. Well, I will just wear more hats anyway, I have a huge collection of hats and love wearing them. I think I'll avoid spiking my hair, it does look a lot better when its down and scruffy.

Ill try turning the cuffs inside out on those pants then, but I do personally like them. they're not as tight and give me a lot of freedom. The reason why I'm peculiar about what gendered pants to wear is specifically from design. womens pants are designed to emphasize hips and legs, even straight boxy ladies pants/jeans. they also don't leave as much room for a packer (especially since I prefer wearing my pants a bit higher on my hips.)

I'm really glad that I've got the shirts going good, seeing as I have been cursed with a very large chest, I want to hide as much as possible.
I really appreciate the help you guys are giving!

Oh, ok, that makes sense.  I haven't worn female clothing in 25 years (I'm 44!), so I didn't think that deeply into it.

Since you enjoy your hair, just wear the hats when it is especially important to you that you pass.   :)

Thanks brett! I might give the bangs a trim though, shorten them, but the colours gonna have to wait until its grown out or I dye my hair again haha. But I got about over 20 hats so I got no problem with that. :P
Not many people do realize the different design in clothes (especially if you haven't worn them in ages). I make my own for cosplays so I look into clothing design a bit more deeply. But yeah, Hope these hats do the trick to passing until I get another haircut or loose a bit of weight.

@EvanAidan You're looking fantastic! Your new haircut is really suiting you :D

Sorry for another link but after some introspection I've realized that the only way for me to be a man is to be a superhero with a blanket cape.
(It's spirit week at my school)
But. All seriousness, I think my face looks more masculine with my hair hidden under that hat, which brings me to consider shaving my head or maybe just a buzz cut? Thoughts? Would it help me pass or would that somehow make it worse... I'm not sure.
  •

devention

Epicene, the nice thing about hair is that it grows back! I'd buzz first to see if your head shape is good for very short hair, if that's what you want to try.
I agree that you pass better in the second picture, but part of that has to do with your clothing, as well. Your jaw shape seems good for shorter hair, IMO.
Give it a shot, I think. Like I said, if you don't like it, just grow it back out. :)
The more I know, the more I know I don't know.
