Hey All. I'm a little more than 5 1/2 months on T and as of this week I've lost about 60lbs from my heaviest of 230 1 1/2 years ago. I've lost some excess chest fat, so when I stretch out I feel like they're not there anymore. I took a picture and wanted to ask for opinions on how me and my chest look 6 months on T. I'm not sure about the rules, since I'm technically pre-op, so I'll post the link instead of the actual photo:

Thanks!

Great look! Passing 100%

Kam, I just clicked the link without reading initially -- I didn't even consider you could possibly be pre-op. Wow!

You look great, Kam.  You already passed before T, so now what I am noticing the most is how handsome you are getting.

Good on ya!

Beaver - Love the suit!  You look great, man.  Spiffy!

Bombadil - Based on the pics, you look like you pass to me.  There's nothing feminine about your looks at all.  Perhaps like Ephemeral said, maybe there's something else giving you away?

Catastrophe - I see androgynous, but you definitely have passing potential. :)  I hope you are doing well coming to terms with it.  I was there about a year ago.

Kam - Looking good, man!  I can't even tell you're pre-op in the pic.

Alright, so I dyed my hair not too long ago.  Still not on T yet, but I thought I would see what you guys thought.  Also, I realized I've never posted any full-body picks so I figured I'd throw a couple of those in there as well.  Erm... please ignore my messy room in the last two pics. xD

You would pass better with a masculine haircut, I read female when I see your long hair.  :(

That't okay.  I appreciate your honesty. :)  No foul!

I have been told that I need to loose the hair and glasses.  But I don't really like having short hair. >.<  I've always been kind of a long-hair kinda guy.  I cut it short a few months ago and I couldn't stand it. :P  I just felt weird.  I don't know though.  I might try it again.  I was looking at some pictures today of when I had short hair and I think I *might* be able to get used to it.  This might sound weird, but I kinda feel like my hair and glasses are a part of my identity and I'd feel a bit naked without them. xP lol

Here's a couple pics of when I had the short hair.

I think I probably pass a lot better in these, but strangely I just don't really see myself in these pictures. :/  I don't know, there's not a lot of short hair cuts that I really like except this one, but I kinda feel like I look a lot like my ex with this haircut, which is, well, kinda awkward. xP

Yeah, I donno what to do with my weird self sometimes. xD

Yo Kaiden if you like the long hair keep it. If you're planning to go on T, which I assume you are since you mentioned it, then eventually it won't matter. I think you actually pass pretty well regardless of the hair. You don't seem to have a gendered body shape. You do pass really well as a young guy with the short hair. But seriously, rock the do you have if it makes you happy.

Oh yea and just to add the long hair looks more male parted in the middle like in the full body pics vs to the side like in your first pic.

Ignore the horrible pose oh my god I photograph so awkwardly
Please be honest, especially if you have tips!

I've been on T for about 9 months but haven't had any surgery
I've been thinking about makeup
Just some subtle contouring to try to make my face more male
What do you guys think?

Kaiden: You pass a bit better with the shorter cut, but def keep it if you like it! post-T your face will change and I know a lot of guys with long hair so really, it's up to you. I will second the part in the middle, it changes your look enough to pass better. (though over all you pass visually) :)

Headsup: Hope I don't sound harsh or rude (I really do try not to!) but you pass pretty well, just a little chub around the chin. I know we all have different bodies and dif body needs, but if you could manage to shave a few pounds off, I bet that face would define itself very handsomely! Rockin the short cut though!

Thanks Lorenz!
I'm actually with you there, I've been trying to work out actually. Hoping to get some muscle and def thin out my face.
I've made a lot of big changes to my diet and lifestyle but it's a tiring process :/
I'll post more pics of I manage to get to a more desired body type!

Thanks Kam and Lori!  Glad you dig the hair. :D

Yeah, I suppose I'm rather lucky that don't really have a feminine shape to my body for the most part.  All my weight tends to go to my middle, so thankfully I don't have much of a waist and what contour is there is fairly easy to hide.  I do usually part my hair in the middle too.  Once in a while I like to straighten it and part it on the side because sometimes I like to try to be fancy, but usually I can't be bothered. xD

It's really good to hear that I pass for the most part. ;D

Headsupbuddy - You look like you pass to me, dude.  I wouldn't recommend make-up.  I tried it once, it didn't really work.  Well, at least it didn't form me. xD  I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try it if you really wanted to, but I don't think you need it. :)

A female's skull is shaped different from a male's.  When you get an all around crew cut this difference gets highlighted.  A standard suggestion to new transmen is to not get a crew cut due to this.

I would suggest a different haircut.  I don't know what, but maybe ask the stylist to cut it however will make your jawline look more square.  It may be a matter of the sides being slightly shorter than the top or something, I have no idea, though (but, they will if you go to a unisex salon).

@KamTheMan: the only difference is in the nipple. unless you're looking for it, you wouldn't be able to tell. continue to work out and it is possible to have a toned chest, as a cis male would. one of my friends is now a body builder (with a pre op chest) and he looks great.

Headsup: I have to agree with Brett. I used to have the crew cut when I was in the military and I actually passed less back then. I now try to keep my hair cut with the sides a little shorter than the top and it helps square my jaw out a lot more. Just a thought.

~Kaiden, you can absolutely be a long haired guy.  DO NOT be pressured into cutting your hair short just because "Men have short hair," or, "If you're really a trans guy, you'd have short hair." And you look great with long hair.

I think the best pic is the second one. That long cut doesn't flatter you though, and if you want to sport a long hair male cut I would recommend to try to make the hair very even at the ends since men don't normally trim the ends in a layered way that females do it.

Anyway, you kind of remind me of my ex who also had that kind of cut and similar facial structure so it's passable.
Come watch with me as our world burns.
