Thanks!

Yeah I am definitely nervous about that. Mainly in front of people who've known me as female, and who I haven't told yet. I guess I am trying to get them used to the "mainly male" look first :P

I agree with FtMitch about the haircut. In my case it did help to shorten it up on the sides although I'm getting tired of this already, I'm going to have to experiment a bit as to what does look male and what doesn't...

Haha I like cargo and baggy pants so I have it kind of easy in that department. But I also like tight t-shirts and at the moment that's kind of an issue since I'm still shy to show the binded chest.

Inspired by my own writing, I've been wanting to bind for the past few days. So last night, using some clothing items i found in my room, i fashoined a temporary binder and tried it!! I must tell you I'm not a selfie person, but i couldn't stop photographing the image of me I've longed to see for years. So i thought I'd post a few here and see if i could pass with binding, now that the college would be starting next month and I'm hoping to present as male there.

you look great YBtheOutlaw, so your intention is to attend college as a guy next month?
  •

YBtheOutlaw

I'm hoping to, i mean i haven't made any arrangement yet but it'll be best for me to start with the start of college. I'm hoping to talk with a support group and find out whether it's ok with college administration. I can't say for sure I'll get a positive outcome, and if not I'm not sure what I'll end up doing. I'm just keeping my hopes high

EDIT: YBtheOutlaw - you look great, man. Sending you good vibes, re: college. Attending undergrad as a dude would have been great!

I love this picture because I feel like I look like one of those elementary school bullies in American cartoons. I took it in the bathroom of my lecture hall after one of my classmates called me "Butch" -- a la The Little Rascals.  :D

Sadly, my usual look (see the pic on the right) is a lot more girly lookin'. I'd definitely welcome tips!

YBtheOutlaw, to be able to start college as a guy would be great so everyone will know you as a guy.  I would check with the administration to let them know what you are doing.  I transitioned in college so there are many that know my history which unnerving at times wondering who knows what about me.  Are you going to live in a dorm, this could be very challenging?  I live alone in an apartment.  I did have to take a PE course, choose golf where you didn't need to change and no one knew.  Good luck to you in college.

thanks buddies. no matter how many times you convince yourself, outside inputs on your looks create the greatest effect.

college dorms are full and only seniors get chances there, so we have to find private boarding places. i'll be living in a room with another friend who is a girl, and i'm yet to come out to her. but i've heard her opinion on transgender people and know she'd be fine with it. i'm hoping to contact the administration through the support group, or a therapist the support group directs me to. this still sounds like a crazy idea to me but it is the only path i can see to continue my life. there will be about 25 people at college in my batch who already know me, but dealing with them is the least of my concerns. i gotta start being myself.

anyway, captains i got the same impression you mentioned from the photo on the left  ;) as for tips i'm not so good at giving them but i'm feeling maybe your smile gives you a look too young. while i am totally against changing one's ways of living to fit into a stereotype, ugh i don't know. just live and smile the way you like man. those who judge will always judge.

Lucaas

I forget how to post images but I hope this works. The last time I posted here I was either pre-t or a couple of months on t. Now, I'm almost 10 months in to medical transition. I even passed over the phone for the first time at my workplace. If you guys have any advice on haircuts or glasses that might help with looking older/more masculine I'd love to hear them.

  •

FtMitch

Hey Lucaas, one thing that might help is shaving the temples of your hair to give you that slightly receded look.  Your face is really round and it would square it up.  I know that not everyone likes to do, but I have found it is really masculinizing to round faces.

So ignoring the fact that my sweater slipped down for an impromptu binder reveal, I'm thinking my glasses are hindrance  to passing, what do you guys think? Any tips or suggestions?

palexander

lucas and johnny: i feel like the frames are taking away from your passing abilities. try ones that are thinner :) do stick to darker colored ones, though

See i would have said heavier frames but less curvy, more rectangular lol

Mmm sometimes this can work but usually it makes the face appear smaller, because the frames exaggerate the size of the glasses and thus make the face appear smaller by proportion. I agree with Palexander, thinner frames and yeah, more rectangular, like you said.

Hey guys! I'm pre-everything, and not sure if I pass.

Also, how old do I look?
I know round specs do me no favour, but I chose them when I had no idea about this and still was presenting as a girl, anyway. I may change them soon, anyway, but I don't know if I'll change the frames too or only the lenses. In that case, I'll look for a pair that's more squared looking.

I think your hair the length it is makes your face look rounder. If you get your hair cut shorter in a undercut/pompadour type style then it'll help. That and square glasses and you'll look super handsome :)

Thank you very much! I thought that haircuts like those would make my face look rounder since they're so short on the sides. I'm looking for haircuts anyway, so I'll keep it in mind.

Hi, everyone. I'm pre-t and I'd like to see your opinion on my "passing skills". This is basically how I dress more often, a button up over a t-shirt gives me a lot more of cofidense even though my hips do give me away most of the time.
What do you think of my haircut?

A lot of people say I look "adorable" or "cute", wich may be because I'm a chubby mess who looks much younger than I am... what age do I look like?

(I'm 20 btw).

Hey awkward shark

I do the same thing with the button up shirt on top for the same reasons. -high fives-

Also I think the haircut is working for you and you totally pass as male for me. Though I'd put you at closer to 16-17 in age. The baby-face of a ftm is a curse I tell ya. :) Something I've noticed though is that I tend to pass as older when I'm wearing plain t-shirts instead of graphics. Of I've heard sometimes shorter less shaggy hair helps? But also T.

Hello, everybody! I figured I'd ask whether I pass or not. I think I do but I'm not sure.
Every time I use my "girl" voice people around me look scandalised, and it's particularly awful at school. I have had people fight over my gender before, and small children get very confused. (I'm 16 years old btw)

My jacket kinda disguises it, but I have oddly broad shoulders for a pre-T transguy.
