I have my initial appointment for HRT in three days and I'm all antsy/fidgeting with my hair.  I think standing it up on end is helping, but I'm worried that I just look kinda butch.  Also I'm not a huge fan of sports jersey type things, and I'm hoping that I'll eventually masculinize enough that I can douse myself in glitter and still read as clearly a guy.  ???

Ok, I know I dont pass and I've had the " too pretty to be trans" comment a number of times so my confidence isnt great. Im just wondering if I at least look andro, any advice would be welcome. My hair is longer than it used to be so I plan to cut it but still feel like my facegives me away no matter what :(

Heres the link, but it's private (im not out to anyone so dont want just anyone seeing it). Pw is ftmguest

You look like a fem boy in some of the pics. I think because your hair is so long it makes your face look sort of feminine;  but once you cut it you'll look androgynous or male.

Your hair is giving your entire face and head a very heart-shaped feminine appearance, especially in the first and last images. The 'bangs' look really doesn't work for guys/FTMs past the age of 10 or so because they're very feminizing.
Here's what's essentially happening: The poofiness/shape of your hair is making your already narrowed jaw and chin look even more narrow and slight which is, in turn, making your cheeks look fuller and softer.

You do have slightly more feminine features but so do a lot of Asian males, so that's really not a huge issue. If you tweaked a few things you could likely reach a state of androgyny.

Bonus: I can't tell whether that's the adjustment strap for the hat poking out, but if it is, hack it off or conceal it in some way once the hat's adjusted to your head size. I see a lot of dudes walking around like that and it just makes their heads look/seem small and that's the last thing you want when you're trying to pass.

I honestly think youre masculine enough to pass as a young male for years to come until you can get on T, if Ryan Cassata (https://www.instagram.com/ryancassata/) can pass at 23 you can definitely pass, albeit young, but definitely male.

Thanks! I'll be able to start T in a year and a half because of how the UK system works, so hopefully I can hold on until then haha.

I'd say you're pretty androgynous. This is primarily because I see a lot of lesbians and men alike dressed similarly to you with the same haircut/glasses combo here in the cities. If I saw you out in public, I'd subconsciously look for other clues to gender you.
The two predominant things working against you are the two things working against pretty much all of us pre-everything: Your hairline and the softness/fullness of your face.
You're doing a really good job binding, though, from what I can tell from those images.

Yeah, my face kinda works against me. I got asked today at Cracker Barrel if I wanted a kid's menu... so I mean, I guess I look like a 12 year old boy? That's a little better, LOL.
As far as binding goes, I have it a little easier because I'm already only about a B-cup, and one of the cheaper, theatre-geared/ cosplay binders does the trick.
Thanks for the feedback.

I think, not counting when I was a small child, I've only passed three or four times in public in my life. Has anyone got advice?

The roundness of the cut and the amount of hair on the sides sorta exencuate the roundness of your face. I think if you get it a bit shorter and squarer then you might look more masculine. Bit you definitely look androgynous.

Wouldn't cut it off though if you're happy how it is; it's a pain growing your hair back to that length.

I think your face goes both ways. At first I thought it's an mtf in early stages. But the neat haircut seems to look female-style with nothing else to counter the impression. I think guys short hair (or medium hair) styles would not go hair back (to a side maybe, or have it short enough to let it go down) and on the sides - guys don't pull the hair behind ears.

I agree with the points both elkie and Elis have raised. You really don't have any particular features about your face that scream 'female' apart from the general roundness of your forehead and that one feature is being further accentuated by your haircut. As is pretty much always the case for us pre-T, the semi-unnatural color may not be doing you any favors either. If that's something you really like, though, don't feel like you have to change it.

The hair behind the ears thing is something I wouldn't have really put any thought into, but that was a keen observation on elkie's behalf.

In my anciently outdated world a guy must slightly better than an ape (or a Neanderthal) spending no more effort to his looks than those 2 (ok, maybe a bit more, but the less the better). Anything that makes a guy to stand out is a trigger to be scrutinized further.

Now, some good physical presence of muscles and sheer physical confidence goes a long way to counterbalance those second guessing looks. A big guy with bear-like physique (or a small yet obviously fit guy with strong lean muscles) can wear a skirt and have any kind of hair and won't be challenged by anyone :)

The last pic definitely screams "male!" to me.  The other two, I would need some other clues to not peg you as androgynous.

Maybe try going to a barber or stylist that also cut men's hair?  I don't think the color is the problem, its the style.  Also I agree, from my observation, men don't usually put their hair behind their ears.

Still, your facial bone structure is great!  Lucky you!
