So what's yalls opinions on it now especially the part that banned the import of Kalashnikov Custom receivers and barrels, more commonly known as Siaga and VEPR to the common customer. Personally I think it's a BS move, not to mention a backdoor move to make so called "assault rifles" illegal in the US.

Thankfully Rifle Dynamics and Arsenal along with M+M are stepping up and flooding the market with guns from other countries and even stepping up to build a US made, 100% mill spec AK...then there are the drunk monkeys at Century Arms....and well yeah lol

Kind of going to avoid the whole gun thing ^ , being that I despise the fact that civilians feel the need to carry them in the first place, and secondly that anyone outside of an army wants to own assault rifles- literally a weapon designed for killing lots of people quickly, with no value for either self-protection or hunting.

Russia, believe it or not is in a very fragile state. Its economy is weak, the government is struggling and the reality is the Russian Military is currently too big for it to deploy (same thing with North Korea). That being said, it is still armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons. Because of this shows of force against them really are not the best way to get it to capitulate to global demands (for their support for ukrainian separatists to cease), however trade sanctions such as those mentioned above ^ , will have a dramatic and very real effect on the Russian economy and Government with comparatively few sacrifices having to be made in the west.

Nope. Russia has the upper hand, the US knows that, the UN knows that, the rest of the world knows that and Putin knows that. Oil is the new gold and natural gas is the new silver. So....

Russia is strong, will not bow down to imperialist tactics. I do however question Russian imperialism itself, though is still an opponent to the main imperialist power which is a good thing, I can't deny.

Most of Europe is not pushing sanctions like the US.  This is because a lot of Europe has to depend on Russia for natural gas.  The Russian economy is strong enough to allow Putin to laugh at the sanctions.  Further, Russia has done tit for tat in applying its own sanctions on US agricultural products.  This is enough to cause a palpable economic downturn for US agricultural interests.  All this sanction nonsense hurts a lot of people at many levels (not just getting rifles) and will have no effect on Russia doing what it can to reabsorb the Ukraine.  I really despise politics - and this is politics at its worst.

Yeah, I really don't see that happening too awful much with the negative publicity that fracking has received. I have a pretty close relationship with the oilfield and most companies are not even from the US. And those that are, are going to sell to the highest bidder. Even the oil companies here in the US will send the oil and natural gas to the highest bidder and really could give a crap less about the US. I own trucks that run a lot in the oilfield and it doesn't matter about quality and the loads getting there safe and so on, which you think it would especially since a lot of times boats are waiting for the loads we bring, but its way more about who is gonna' cut whose throat to give them a cheaper rate regardless of safety, on time record and experience of the drivers. That tells me more than anything else that without binding contracts from the US government and our natural resources with the stipulation of staying in the US that we are screwed. After all they are corporations with a lot of stock holders in other countries and have no allegiance whatsoever to the country they get the oil and natural gas from.

I hate to say this peky, but it is all about the almighty dollar and greed when it comes to oil and natural gas. Not so much about allegiance to the country they are from.

By the way you know I respect the crap out of you and I hope you are right, but I know the oilfield and oil companies and see a lot of geed and no allegiance to anyone but their share holders.

Unfortunately BlonT, "Ours is not to question why. Ours is just to do and die." One thing hon, way too much money involved. Right or wrong goes out the window when someone can make a profit.
