on monday I smashed my finger at work. to be honest, right when it happened I thought I broke my finger but then I decided I was "fine". I don't like going to the doctor. I always downplay things and I didn't want the hassle and possible trouble that comes from a job injury. I've been toughing it out. by today the whole freaking finger was discolored and swollen and the bruising and swelling was in my hand. my coworkers talked me into reporting it and going to the doctor.
so, i went to the little clinic in town. I've been there before as a female, under my birth name. now I'm hear through work, as male under my new name. when i got to the window, i went to the window and checked in. they asked if I'd been seen before. I said yes but that I'd changed my name. she asked for my birth date and pulled up my file. And that was it. It was all christopher this and that. You never know in this small town how things will go, but my transition was a non-issue and I got treated with complete respect. if you've never had an on the job injury you may not know how much paperwork you have to fill out. it's insane. but it was really nice to check the "male" box on the forms.
turns out my first impression was right. I did break the finger. And I guess I broke it in a bad spot because tomorrow I have to go see a hand specialist. blah. Never had any hand injuries in my life and now I've had 2 in 2014. wth? anyway. I'm going to another place I've been before. So we will see how it goes being male and christopher tomorrow. And hopefully the doctor's appointment will go ok too

fortunately it's my pinky finger that got smashed so i can still function pretty well.
and then friday I see my endo doctor. she's going to check my blood levels to make sure my T is at male levels consistently. my voice is changing like crazy and I'm seeing other changes so I have to think it's pretty good. I'll find out. I am also going to ask her about top surgeon recommendations. she specializes in trans patients so I'm sure she will have some info. my goal is to have the surgery next february/march. the awesome news is my insurance will cover it if I jump through all the right hoops.
did I mention I don't like going to the doctor. heh!!! well at least I knew my endo is super cool.
