I'm A 65yo just stsrting transition and yes i'm jellous of the younger girls because back when we wanted to become women they wanted to put us in mental hospitals tryed for years and finale have gotten on hormones and a mental health provider through the V.A. now going to my sessions with the theriprst dressed is scarry as all get out especaly around all thoes men at the V.A. i'm retired and don't know how i'm going to get srs but maby i'll figure it out but on ss and va pension it just covers living expences hope i just don't end up beeing a cock in a frock but we'll see hope not hope the va starts to provide more services than mental health and hormones need hair transplants i do my own electro with a one touch for now the hair is a big thing guess i'll have to go wigs

    Welcome Smitty you have come to a wonderful place with lots of help. I to am a vet ,VN 1970-1971 and go to the VA, what a cluster, hope yours is better than the two I deal with.Started HRT 12-25-2013 and I know what you mean about walking into the VA dressed, the day I did that was the day I started full time.If you have the courage to walk in there with all those brave men you can go anywhere and that was the last time I dressed as a male.   Patty

I am 56 and just 10 weeks on HRT.  I have great results so far, both physically and mentally -- and the emotional changes are the strongest.

At 65, if your doctor says your health is otherwise good enough to do it, you should be able to...!

Since you are on SS, I assume you are on Medicare. Medicare now covers SRS. You could be in good shape yet.
