Emmaline

Boy mode:  "what army are you collecting?"

Boy mode:  "what army are you collecting?"

Boy mode:  "what army are you collecting?"

Boy mode:  "what army are you collecting?"

GIRL mode: "hi, so who are buying for today?"

And Emma meets her new world.

"What do you fear, lady?" he asked.
"A cage," she said. "To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire."

Oh of course because the world of gaming, war hammer, video games, comic books, dungeons and dragons, sports (not including ice skating, netball, softball and gymnastics) and fantasy leagues. Are totally male domains and girls would have no idea or interest in any of these hobbies. (Did I miss anything)

Apparently, it's time to sell my Wood Elves, High Elves, Space Wolves, Imperial Guard and Dark Eldar...

I know cis women who experience the same, "Girl Gamer? Nawwwwwwwwwww" at Fantasy Flight games.

My SO works on the other side of the counter. She will answer questions only to have the customer go find a male so they can be told the same answer by him.

Hahaahah!

Emmaline, congratulations! You've successfully burned your bridges to male privilege.

From now on:
1.  By default you suck at games.
2.  You're weird if you're deeply into scifi.
3.  You don't know anything about anything mechanical.

It's like all that knowledge has magically disappeared and your face has migrated to your chest.  :)

Lols. I am the local volunteer for a different company, Privateer Press, and out to most of my players. I also used to work for my local shop for almost a decade. I am out to the staff as well. I present in boy mode so far and have been slowly adding in women's jeans and Tshirts, using my girl voice, and getting hugs and the like as if I were a girl. Most of the players who don't know haven't said a word or given my a second glance. Too busy with their card games and such I suppose.

I am heading out to a new shop out of town for some fun this weekend. Should be interesting, and I hope I don't get the gamer andro/girl shame. I've been playing longer than many of them have been alive.

What is extra amusing about this is I actually have a massive citadel collection including original minis painter by John Blanche himself, one of which was in white dwarf and ratspike.

I sculpt minis professionally and own my own mini company.

I also turned down a job at Citadel as a digital sculptor.

It's amazing how you think you can communicate that in an eyebrow raise, isn't it?

Nothing more fun than playing around with small mind then.  :)

Good point!  It will be fun playing dumb, maybe a low cut top- then cutting them down with a precise factoid.

Tiny minds deserve it.

Just remember tiny mind.

They may be too busy looking at the low cut top and automatically dismissing you, instead of listing to the precise factoid.

As I said! the face migrates down to the chest.  Apparently you can enunciate clearly through clothing.  :)

Well you can communicate with your clothing, but somehow I think we are not talking about the same thing.

Suddenly I am thankful my local comic book shop is staffed by three girls, with only the owner being male. Makes buying so much easier no strange looks or questions at all

Im a Dark Angels/ Space wolves and almost Terminator exclusive fan myself. But I have collected random miniatures too. I gave my Prince Imrick dragon to my sister-in-law. So many hours lost painting models and miniatures.

I got rid of my Space Wolves and Hordes of Chaos a few years ago, just because I couldn't afford to play and had other things on my mind, like depression, military school for college, work, finding reasonable people to play with, etc.

I used to work in the local game store back home, and met a bare handful of girls who liked to play.  Most of the girls I talked to with GW stuff would rather paint/model and then let their bf play with what they painted.

Well warhammer has devolved into an agressive rules argument played with very sexist factions.  Hardly attractive.  Most girls I know play dnd or skirmish games like malifaux, but most are just into painting it's true.

This is something that came up in my FB feed. It's more PC Gamerish I suppose, but there's a lot of stuff about sexism.......you may have come across it before (I'll admit my interest was more the sexism than the Game aspect) but it may be of interest:

It boggles my mind when misogynistic men defend misogyny with even more misogyny.
