Ok so I'm in the process of cashing out my 401K,  nearly $40000,  and I'm going to use it for voice feminization surgery,  a brow lift and a orchiectomy but the voice first.  Has anyone had VFS and can anyone recommend a good surgeon?

Hi, Amy
You can check this subforum and read all about those who had a surgery. Most will be about Dr Kim at the Yeson Clinic in Korea, but some had a voice surgery with a few other surgeons in Europe or the US. It seems the consensus is that the glottoplasty option (anterior web creation with advancement of the commissure) is the best, while the CTA method is inferior.
There are plenty of voice samples as well. You can spend a week reading all of this and be really well informed ;)

I was looking at Dr. Haben in Rochester.  A thread was started about him and looked positive.

You're the one who heard Korea and was like "That's too far," right?

So far we have one pretty good 1-month result from him on the forum. The procedure is slightly different (ex. glue), but the limited available results sound similar to Yeson's outcomes. Which, previously, nothing has, really.

Yeson pioneered this technique and many may prefer Dr. Kim simply for his well-established success rate & results. He has been doing it for ~7 years now and more or less specializes in this work. Dr. Haben is likewise a voice specialist, but it is my understanding this is newer for him and perhaps somewhat secondary to his other work (it's hard to even find info on this procedure on his website, but it is there.)

Rochester would be less than a day's drive for me, actually, but I'm holding out for Dr. Kim.

According to Dr Kims brochure, his method is actually a new modification of the standard wendler glottoplasty or "anterior web creation" that some other surgeons use. It is hard to find out what exactly it is that he makes different, but there seems to be a distinction here. AFAIK, Dr Haben uses the anterior web formation technique in combination with a CTA.

You have been literally dying for an Orchie this whole year to the point of DIY with a cattle product and now Voice Surgery is first??  ??? You may not be able to afford as much as you think when your 401k is penalized for early withdrawal.  :)
