Yesterday Conchita Wurst won the Eurovision song contest with the song rise like a phoenex.
she won with almost 300points from Europa even 10 points from comming from Lithuania and 4 points from Russia.
after winning she thanked and said: "this night is dedicated to everyone who believes in a future of peace and freedom.
You know who you are. We are unity and we are unstoppable."

I thought Conchita was just a drag queen? Does she/he identify as androgyne?
  •

saint

I think she stated she was genderqueer in a recent interview

Congratz Conchita. Drag queen, genderqueer, non-binary or however sie identifies. Definately helping break many barriers.

UK XBOX has a spotlight link to a music vid of them, singing the same song. I didnt exspect to see that.

I just hope that the "xbox is for kids" doesnt get used by angry parents, and cuase riots.
Im all for pushing buttons.  but just scarred progress might be lost in a too much too soon sort of way.

this isn't too much in western europe. i remember seeing some ->-bleeped-<- (probably) on tv quite a few times when i was much younger. can't remember any parents saying it was bad for us kids, they rather seemed to enjoy the show as well.

theres been pretty many transgender, drags, and people who played with the gender roles in the eurovision story. in that kind of sence it nothing new.
She is neither the first transperson winning the show, maybe the first non-binary thought I am not sure.

But the attention thing is also due to the whole drama. certain countrys wanted to ban her from the show in the first place and when she got to stay anyway she won and also getting points from these countrys who wanted to ban her from the show, I think thats a pretty big thing.

yeah, that was a little funny. but the whole contest is really strict against discrimination, and the countries that were against a "bearded woman" appearing on their people's tv screens, and wanted to at least cut out conchita, got a very clear message that the all or nothing rule is still in effect. either they air the whole show or they don't air it at all. the media knows their power, even over states that are counted as the world's most powerful.

The Media is always kinda pathetic who only want to sell.
When she won, there where debates whenever it was fair or not, or if she only won because of the beard (like she had been cheating) then it was raised like a "oh look how tolerant and accepting europa that we can tolorate this" kind of articals<- (not mention all the crap she had to deal with)
and then even yesterday I read a very bad artical who said how this was destroying everything, and mixing politic into this show was wrong, and how opressed this cisgender person felt..
--
It ridiculous how much drama there can be made for a beard,
if they wanted to make drama and moral debatations then I think they should questionate the building which it was heal. Denmark had used milions to turn and old building beside some sewer clearning factory into some really expensive high quality concert place, having it open for a week just to drop the whole project and put it down. I mean Morally I think that pretty lame, specially when denmark complain about being in a crise and not having money, if Europa complained about that I would think that was fair.

the media will always create any cases they possibly can to sell more. that's normal.
but i still love it when they use their power to overthrow wrongdoers. fun to watch how powerless those despotic leader are against the mass (media).

I am astounded.

I have just seen much of myself - though she is more she than I - on that stage.  I look and I perform so much like her it is shocking, except i don't have ffs and am much older.  I have her body, her hair though a goatee instead of full beard, a lower Broadway voice, just her face is prettier than mine due to age.

My goodness i have the same overall look when I am in full transition mode.  I don't believe it.

And as an off-Broadway professional union actor, and I will return someday to the stage again, probably stealth and male presenting, I will tell you that was a wonderful song choice and a classy performance.

I should have looked at this much sooner.  Triggers.... no worries.... wow.  What a terrific thing to do for the GQ community.

Another morning feeling validated.  I love it.

For anyone that has not seen this yet, this is a blow away example of genderqueer at its finest, IMO, and they look an awful lot like I look when I am fully transition mode.  At least, that's what my mind wants to believe LOL.

For those who don't think there is acceptance, perhaps the crowd disagrees?

Blessings,

SJ
