Ok so I finally have the money for facial hair removal but I am concerned with redness for work and such.........anyone have any advice on this?
:)

I had the same concerns as you.  Also it is not advisable to go out in the sun after a laser session. So i guess it kind of made sense to me to get my sessions in the evening over the weekends

That's what I'm thinking, like Friday afternoons, is there much redness or not to worry over the weekend? How about shaving for the next week, is it a concern?

The redness only lasts a few hours for me, but I do avoid the sun. If you plan on being outdoors, just wear sunscreen. As far as shaving goes. I've never had a problem shaving the next day. (Now I don't have to shave every day :) .)

I had 14 laser sessions for my face, the most difficult part was going thru each session since the pain was too much. You will be red for a couple of hours but the redness will go down after a couple of hours.

Be sure to use some aloe Vera cream and a lot of sun blocker after each session.

I want laser hair removal on my legs so I don't have to deal with shaving.

Does anyone know if laser hair removal actually works? Is it permanent? I don't want to spend the money if after like 20 sessions the hair will continue to grow back...

Thanks

Hi exxtasy, i had done laser throughout my body and it was the best thing i could have done, hair will either die and will not go out anymore or the few ones that go out are just with no color and too weak.

The next one is the number of sessions i went thru:
- Face - 14 sessions
- Underarm - 6 sessions
- Chess and Stomach - 12 sessions
- Bikini - 6 sessions - this one was a mistake, now that i am post op i do not have any hair down there, some hair would be good to cover some of the scars.
- Legs - 12 sessions

I only have to shave some small underarm hairs every two weeks or so, and from time to time i get some no-color hairs on my legs but as i said, they are too weak and not even noticeable, so i do not really care about them.

Laser is an excellent investment, I would say, in my case, it was just as important, even more than HRT.

I have had four sessions of laser hair removal on my face. Each time my face was red and slightly swollen for the rest of the day, but I was fine by  morning. The hairs literally popped out of my face for the most part, but there were a few hairs that I  did have to shave before the shedding process completed. The hairs left were burnt and harder to shave than usual, but they left less of a "shadow" because the follicle underneath was dead.

Those hairs will  be gone after two or three weeks and you should be hairless for another couple. The survivors will come back and hopefully your next appointment will be shortly after (mine are 8 weeks apart).

Redness lasted a couple of hours for me too, and it wasn't really even redness - more like mild discomfort and a little swelling around each follicle (like invisible to the eye unless a few inches away from the mirror.)  Work the day after was no problem whatsoever.

Permanent?  I've heard good and bad.  Mine, so far, is permanent.  Worked wonders on the black hairs, but I've a fair amount of gray going on too which hasn't been affected (nor do I expect it to be.)  Laser is a great place to start; if it works, you've saved a ton of money over electrolysis, and if it doesn't work (which is pretty unlikely), it'll at least slow growth down to basically zero and get rid of that nasty shadow.

So far, it's a "highly recommend" from me.  Hurts like crazy though, one of the most unpleasant things I've ever had done to me.

Thanks sooo much for replying. I hear so many things about laser hair removal not working and all this stuff that it's nice to hear from someone who actually went through with it and stuck with it and got amazing results.

I'm definitely gonna look into it.

It depends on your skin tone and how sensitive your skin is .I'm fair colour and I had no redness . But every body is different.

I got 3 sessions on my legs, session 4 is on the 12th of sep... i'm currently growing it out for my next session, and my legs are so patchy, large sections with hair missing and no regrowth... especially the popcorn hair follicles that pop (you can hear them, feel them and even smell them), hurts like a bitch, oh it works trust me... Just don't get IPL, get proper laser. My laser esthatician sets my machine to 26 joules because I can't handle any higher.. worse than getting a tattoo

I had redness that would look really irritated and swollen to someone who wasn't me for about an hour after each session. The redness would be noticeable to *me* for a bit longer, but I was paranoid. :)

It's permanent, in that when a hair follicle is killed it will stay dead. They can't guarantee getting every single follicle, though. (5+ years later, I have a few survivors, but they're the same dozen or so I had left over from the beginning - no new growth since.) Also, in rare cases, new follicles will start doing things years later; the same thing happens to cis women who abruptly find a few facial hairs. But that's REALLY uncommon (and would happen with electro too, as dormant follicles are "invisible").

So, since we are in a hair removal subject, i have some questions:

I'm very... hairy. I got hair all over my body, even in my back. Does that goes off with hormones? Or should I do a laser hair removal?

Starting with the YMMV disclaimer. I lost most of body hair after starting hrt. I have taken laser only on my face and the rest was all waxing. I haven't had to wax my back since like 6 months ago and just need to wax arms and legs in like 3 weeks..
