Greetings all! Decided to jump on here and share what will hopefully turn out to be a very positive experience; I am OFFICIALLY OUT AT WORK!
For those not in the know, I'm a mobile developer for a big corporation; I interned over the summer and they kept me on during the semester and offered me a job for when I graduate. I'm getting ffs in the winter, and figured I ought come out before taking 2 weeks off and returning with symmetrical pieces of my face removed.
I worked with them through our company's LGBT networking forum, who spoke on my behalf until today. They told me no form of discrimination or bullying would be tolerated, and that they fully support all trans identified employees. I'm meeting with HR next Tuesday to discuss the process of coming out to coworkers and other policy related stuff, but I'm super optimistic!
