After 4 years of transition, 2 of which were on wait lists regarding CAMH and that whole process.  I have finally gotten a confirmed GRS date with Brassard in Montreal on April 21st 2015!  It's been quiet the journey.

Keep us up to date and ask any questions.

Congrats!!

I went to Brassard in 2012, if you have any questions. :)  They'll take very good care of you there!

Thanks.  Did you two get a consultation before hand?  Or did you just go straight there?  Also, I assume at some point they'll give me a list of things I'll need for there and at home afterwords.  Like pads, lube etc?

Jenna Marie

I at least went straight there, because I live far enough away that travel for a consult alone would be hardship.

They do provide that information packet and list, and the one thing I'll warn is that you don't need most of what they say you will while you *are* there. :) Pads, lube, underpants, dilators, antibiotic ointment, gloves, etc. are all provided for the duration of your stay. Basically, if you have clothes (besides underwear) and entertainment options, you'll be all set.

I had a consulting before they applied to the RAMQ.
That was like 3 months before the date was given. I live in Montreal.

Most girls will see the doctor day before or morning of surgery as long as everything beforehand tests are ok.

Make sure you have 100% guarantee care of a doctor or ob/gyn.

Some girls with just minor infections vaginal or granulation are being turned away being for some reason they do not know what a neo vagina is.

Congratulations.  As Jenna said; they will take very good care of you. Mine was just 4 months ago. I did not have a consult until the day before my surgery.

WooHoo!!!
Congratulations Katie ... awesome news!

My op with Dr Brassard is just over 2 weeks away.

I live near London (UK) but I was able to arrange for a Skype video call a few months ago with Dr Belanger ... we spent about 15 minutes talking with her answering a set of questions I'd asked and the whole experience was what sealed my decision to go with them.

As Izzy says, I've been led to believe that I will have the final "now let's see what we have to work with" and "have you any final questions" session on the morning of my procedure.

Thanks for the tip about the ob/gyn.  I'll ask my doctor about getting one.  I didn't know they did skype consultations either, I might do that.  Congratulations to you too JourneyingSam! I hope your experience there is wonderful!

Congratulations Katie :)

I'm sure you're excited, I get my SRS in Bangkok just over 3 weeks before you so I do know what it feels like to be building towards surgery :) It will soon pass and then you will get to the end :)

Thanks SorcaC.  It's a strange feeling to have wanted this for so long and it now being scheduled.  I'm super excited, but the reality of it still hasn't fully kicked in lol.  Maybe when I get closer to April.  I'm sure everything will go wonderfully for you in Bang
kok, but wishing you all the best anyway!

Congrats Katie.

I'll be having mine with Brassard next month.  Getting a date is such a big milestone, I can't believe the wait is almost over for me.

Congrats! Ugh, CAMH is such a pain in the butt. Their quoted times of how long each step in their process should take was only off by 12 months. Glad to hear someone else went through the process, I was starting to think they were lying about how busy they were. What I really like about going to Dr. Brassard is that his office knows how to deal with OHIP and they said if revisions are needed they would more than likely be covered. CAMH told me the opposite, that no revisions would be covered, I think I will listen to the doctor. I am also going to be going to Dr. Brassard next month. My date got moved up.  :)

I think we'll probably just miss each other. I'm arriving during the last week of Nov.  :(
