And it was rather anticlimatic.
My name was on a printed sheet outside the door - case #1. Just great - front and center right off the bat.
I went inside, checked in with the clerk, and took a seat and nervously waited for about 10 minutes. There was 3 attorneys and me in the room.
Then the judge came in, sat down, and got right to business.
He called me up first, so I nervously got up and went in front of him.
Him: Do you have anything to add to this?
Me: No
Him: Do you have any questions?
Me: No
Him: Everything seems to be in order here <scribbles on paperwork> - the bailiff will have your paperwork in just a minute.
I was done. The whole thing took less than a minute.
So I am officially now a female in California with a name of Eva Marie <last name>.
So I left there and I went and sat by the ocean since I was already very close to it. I watched the pacific and the surfers and listened to the surf and smelled the salt air for awhile while I contemplated what had just happened. It just seemed like the right thing to do, and it soothed me.
Now I have so much to do and so many places to change my name....... My coming out is being officially announced in a meeting at this very moment at work. I'm trying not to think too much about it. Everything is happening so fast......
